Appears Brian's rather close to the Wiggins-Cockram family. Rumour is hes been to Brads wedding.
Cathys father a long term employee of BC.
Colossal conflict of interest and no wonder Cookson has been so silent on Wiggins case.

Will be interesting to compare Cookson's election manifestos from 2012 to the new one.

Interesting that UK Sport funded Cookson's last election to the tune of 70kStg.

The guy is a total clown & clearly worried about the beans Sutton will drop if he becomes unemployable.
Holy crap that is one dumb interviewee. Cookson literally says nothing beyond stuff like "spots is tough". It's almost like he is saying the ends justify the means but is too slick to do so or too dim to realize it.

Remember when Brailsford was telling the UCI to get tough on ASTANA? This is just laughable now.

It's an absolute farce now under Cookson.
Motors, colossal conflicts of interest, blatant nepotism, jiffy bags, TUE abuse.

Thanks to Wiggins and friend of the family Cookson, cycling has again become the laughing stock of global sports.

Reading between the lines ... Sutton has made the shortlist for the Oz job and needs some positive PR spin to make it easier of CA to employ him. Has Cookson by the balls.

Upcoming report will raise questions
[for] Brian Cookson, president of British Cycling for 16 years until 2013, when he became the most powerful man in the sport, elected President of world federation the UCI after campaigning to restore the sport's credibility. At the time Cookson spoke proudly of his time in charge of British Cycling, hailing it a "well-run, stable federation governed on the principles of honesty, transparency and clear divisions of responsibility." A man who, when asked whether he had presided over any bad behaviour, surprised some observers by saying "I don't want to comment on any individual", but then did so anyway, expressing his "great respect" for Sutton.

I always argued Cookson should be allowed some time to settle into the role. He's had that time and to be honest, from what I've seen, he's been at best completely ineffectual and at worse negatively impactful on cycling as a pro sport. Even an ASO stooge would be better at this point.

The Brits did not install Cookson at the UCI because they wanted to improve cycling. They backed him to a man in place who could put his thumb on the scale. He has been surprisingly effective at that.

Not so many selfies taken lately. Has Brian Cookson OBE been concentrating on talking with his legal team about how best to conduct "Maxwellisation" of the report ?

http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest-news/british-cycling-brief-riders-independent-review-discrimination-allegations-march-1-312012

Oh for the simple days of the past when Pat or Hein could both commission and receive the report and suggest changes and then sue the likes of Kimmage as "there was no proof".

thinks - Damn those politicians.- Shane had it right - they should be ashamed of themselves questioning our great achievements. What a fantastic system we had. The Lottery generated oudles of dosh. UKSport gave it out to anyone who could spell the name of their organisation correctly at the top of the form. We got the money and sloshed it out amongst ourselves and friends and then Shane, Freeman and others did what they had to do with riders who were willing. Loads of medals and UKSport were so good at making sure they never asked a difficult question about where we spent the money. Yes we used that £60k on a coach for the women's team. You want some receipts, here they are - one bacon sandwich £4.37p, mileage to Manchester and back to pick up a £4 med, 490 mile round trip at 43p per mile = £210.70. We just had it perfect. Sir Brian Cookson was going to have such a nice ring about it.

Maxwellisation - BC being compared to the most extraordinary story of corruption and press control in the past two decades. And press control there has been. Not enforced like Maxwell did but taking advantage of the collection of simpletons who reported on cycling in the UK and manipulating them. Remember this "game changer" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cycling/10860674/Sir-Dave-Brailsford-hails-Team-Skys-12000-Jaguar-designed-bike-as-a-game-changer.html
