I think he is the only (or one of the few) rider from Wallonia who has been racing in the biggest events of the season. (Wikipedia has Daan Soete as coming from Liège, but I think that's incorrect as other sources say he is from Herentals and he states that he is from Grobbendonk in his strava profile).

Being the best from the region must leave him always very excited to race.

While in terms of direct distance, yes, but if you sort them by distance to each other, Tim Marsman should actually be closer on average to Martins Pluto than anyone from planet Earth (though that may vary over years).

Now that I think of it, the last winner on Willunga Hill was a guy named Holmes. Then they scratch that finish and this guy shows up.

It all smells very fishy indeed.

DNF in the same race was someone called Nick Peddler. Good name for a cyclist but obviously needs to pedal faster.
