With a Swedish(ish) surname.

Do Swedish people usually spell the name with a double 's'? Like Benny Andersson.

With one 's' it is a British name. Or an American name as Swedish immigrants probably drop one 's' when they move to USA, like Richard Dean Anderson's grandfather.

I'm going to assume that 'Beat' has a slightly less violent meaning in Switzerland.

SUI
BLUM Beat
27/04/1975
SUI
16/07/1978
SUI
16/01/1979
SUI
23/03/1967
SUI
10/05/1971

And the fact that they're all from around the same time, means that there was a time when the headline 'Beat beat Beat' would have been entirely within the realm of possibilities.

You missed a Beat: https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=87517

A shame none of them ever got to ride for BEAT Cycling.

As a kid I always thought 'Beat' was an impossibly cool name but I had never stopped to think about it until now

It's just German for 'Beatus'

My disappointment knows no bounds
