the tguy rode on a roadbike, he has clearly a horrible position and he's nowhere near the 20 best eritrean cyclists there are. he probably had the money or sources to go. not because he's the best, same with albanians who are actually italians who paid for this while albania themselve have better riderd

Nope, he is actually one of their better riders, was 3rd in the tour of Eritrea before the final crit where he bombed and lost 12 minutes.

And yet you keep fuelling that arseholic stereotype so many of us wish to shrug.

No offense, I want to see more more Africans in cycling too, but if you take part in such an event without being really good enough, you are responsible for the ridicule you get. Similar to that Samoan shot-putter who ran in the 100m race in the World Championships this year, or I think in the Beijing Olympics there was a swimmer from one of those Pacific nations who nearly drowned because he really couldn't swim that well at all (nevermind fast).

Good heavens, Albanian Simone Zignoli (name sounds extremely Italian) losing 2'36" in the first sector.

I seriously hope he had a major mechanical, because that type of performance is completely unworthy of a participant.

Debesay is a lot better than Mengis and Teklehaimanot is way way better than Debesay. The Algerian Lagab who was listed to ride but hasn't is also alot better than Debesay.

And yet more people probably remember who Eric the Eel rather than remember who won the same event at the Sydney Olympics...

No, you don't open yourself up to ridicule from coach potatos and keyboard warriors. Clearly, you fail to understand what the Worlds is about. He's doing something none of his countrymen have ever done before. Participating here is as much an experience for these riders from lesser nations as it is for competing. If your so in need of seeing those who are competitive then just tune it for the last 2 rides.

heard of the wind?

Should be present on the home stretch of the lap. But it shouldnt be the strongest wind there is. So guess we will have to wait and see how much it affects the other good riders.

Harmelink just got his TT cycle back, that was stolen monday. Apparently the idiot that stole it, tried to sell it on Christiania, but the people there called the police.

Well, he came 3rd in the Nat champs road Race and 6th in the TT, 1'21" behind Teklehaimanot, so not the best they have, but still a decent rider.

He also beat Debesay in that TT
