No, you don't open yourself up to ridicule from coach potatos and keyboard warriors. Clearly, you fail to understand what the Worlds is about. He's doing something none of his countrymen have ever done before. Participating here is as much an experience for these riders from lesser nations as it is for competing. If your so in need of seeing those who are competitive then just tune it for the last 2 rides.

Just to be clear, I don't think Mengis made a fool of himself here, he lost 7 1/2 minutes so far, maybe it will be 10 in the end, that's not that bad for a 46.4km TT. But if you look like a guy who competes in shot-put (which Sogelau Tuvalu did and was) and need 15 seconds for 100m run in the World Championships, that's just funny, regardless of where you're from.

Well, he came 3rd in the Nat champs road Race and 6th in the TT, 1'21" behind Teklehaimanot, so not the best they have, but still a decent rider.

He also beat Debesay in that TT

debesay was 2nd in national itt

No he did not beat the Debesay who is here, Freqalsi Debesay was second. Mekseb Debesay was 8th behind Mengis.

Also the TT must have been quite short seeing Teklehaimanot won in just under 20 minutes.

And yet more people probably remember who Eric the Eel rather than remember who won the same event at the Sydney Olympics...

I'm sure all our Dutch friends on this forum will be happy to remind you it was Pieter van den Hoogenband

According to some people on a Dutch forum, this "Albanian" Zignoli owns a restaurant in Italy, was scheduled to ride the Worlds as a member of the Saint Kitts & Nevis team last year and wants to compete at the Olympics next year. Maybe with a Zambian passport, then?

As the RTBF points out, he's quite fat, too.

Ah, the UCI calls him Freqalsi Abrah hence my confusion.

Now that is just sad

He's made big improvement this year in TT. He finished only 22 seconds behind Brajkovič in the national championship. He was sick lately so this could be the reason for him to perform badly but top 15 is definitely possible for him if he is in top shape.

He is obviously out of shape

I hope it won't rain later

Good TT by Castroviejo but this effort won't be enough for a top 10, unless he saved the best for last. Beating Dyachenko with less than half a minute is not exactly an extraterrestrial performance for him.

edit: ... although Dyachenko seems to be going strong.

Dyachenko's TT'ing has been less than stellar recently, to say the very least. He didn't make the top 10 of a single ITT outside of Kazakhstan since 2007 (when he beat Nibali in the Olympic test event in Beijing). Mostly he's 60th or even 90th in TT's at World Tour level. Why do you call him "so underrated"?

because he probably never did those itt's full on, why would he? he rarely races a good gc and is usually a helper. he was 2nd though I think in vuelta atalunya some years ago and really showed some class, that is what ruben means

This commentator is hopeless, he's mixing up times. Castroveijo aparently did 10 seconds worse that last sector despite gaining 5 seconds on Dyachenko.

This is a pretty big gap against a good time trialist. Maybe it's a bit long for Sergent though.
