Porte is an outside chance for 3rd in the ITT.
Porte is interesting. You take into consideration only WorldTour Time Trials and he's been the 2nd best TT'er behind Tony Martin. In fact he's done 9 ITT's this year, exclude the Giro Mountain one and he's worst performance is 8th.

He has finished behind Contador 3 times out of 3, been beaten by Millar, Wiggins and Zabriske, although did beat Wiggins, Millar and Martin at Romandie which was only 20km.

Certainly a track rider's dream course. Pan flat and not exactly technical.
I'm no fan of big city circuits in any case.

Tony M doesn't agree.

Technischer WM-Kurs
18.Sep2011

In WorldTour TimeTrials (not prologues, not Mountain TTs):

David Millar
1st - Giro d'Italia (Milan)
18th - Eneco Tour
18th - Tour de Romandie
32nd - Tour de France

Richie Porte
5th - Tour de France
4th - Giro d'Italia (Milan)
2nd - Tour de Romandie
8th - Pais Vasco
3rd - Paris-Nice

Which one has the better palmares overall? Do you really have to think about it?

I was not trying to claim that Millar had been better this year.

Looks like a very flat course which isn't too technical though in saying that the straights don't look overly long either.

Eurosport commentary of mens U23 ITT,

"Most of the pundidts around here believe that Hepburn will take it out, with his main threat coming from Durbridge. The two Australians are head and shoulders above everyone else."

Quitte a few ridres so far have been fiddling things while they have started their tt. The slovakian rider nearly lost it while fiddling with his helmet strap!

I think this for the men will come down to Durbridge/ Quaade. Hepburn also looks good. I think Brandle could top 10 if only for the fact he has been competing against the pros a bit more. Jungels will go ok as well.
