Thanks. Below is an update for my local situation. There does not seem to be any correlation to the link above claiming 2022 deaths to date exceed 2021 already?

I would expect ICU admissions and ventilated patients to correlate with deaths. Yet ICU admissions are currently only 72 compared to the delta peak of 242 in September 2021. And for those unfamiliar, NSW is the most populous state in Australia with 8.2 Million people which is 4.5 times the size of Idaho and about 30% larger than Maryland so a good sample size. Australian Covid stats are dominated by NSW and Victoria.

The death toll seems not realated to masks or lockdowns but more related to the actual mutations of the virus. The opening of a location who had little exposure to the virus etc. Oh never mind there are a few here who have agendas and they want this to follow their own false conclusions , science changes and countries open up.

Why were they culled? They can't prove one of them were infected with corona / covid. Yet you seem to believe it all the way from where you sit. that is odd.

Why were they culled? Because of SARS1. Again, read about what happens when a chicken gets infected with bird flu. They kill the whole flock to prevent the spread. Or what happened in Denmark when they culled 17m mink after they detected C19.

Well that makes sense cause Australia was locked down for a long time through the initial outbreak and through a lot of the Delta outbreak. Like some of the more cautious countries it opened up fully during the Omicron outbreak which we know now is an even more infectious strain. But as the government said at the time, you can't stay in lockdown forever as the Chinese will discover eventually...............elderly and seriously ill people will still be more vulnerable to any strain of Covid. In my my city there has been a major drop off in mask use except on public transport mostly. We have an election on the way so I don't expect much logic from politicians for the next five weeks or so. As usual its a combination of decisions and events that have contributed to the higher than normal rate of fatalities albeit during a phase with a so called milder version of the virus. And now we have the new variation showing up when all of the protocols have been dropped...........

Israel were doing second boosters for the elderly and immune deficient simply because in those people the effect of the vaxs is more temporary it seems. I think Australia is currently at 65% for adult booster shots.

I know that Chinese forecasts can be taken with a grain of salt. I agree Chinese stocks are risky. I also agree about the risks of their property market and other risks. But at this time I don’t see omicron as crashing either theirs or the west’s economies. According to what they publish China’s economy was gradually slowing pre Covid anyway - completely expected. If their property bubble bursts that’s another story. Obviously that wouldn’t be good for their pandemic response.

Again, look at the trajectory of their economic growth...it was huge doses of government money into boondoggle infrastructure and "loosening" the regulation on stocks that started their upswing. Real Estate speculation is where those easy profits flowed and we know all too well in the US what a bubble does under too much pressure.

Yes I am aware of the economics of China. My country (Australia) was and still is a beneficiary via exports of iron ore, resources and agricultural products. When the GFC hit in late 2008 they quickly switched from an export to a domestic consumption led economy - this is where debt risks took root. China has pursued policies to maintain a high economic growth to keep the people happy. But I don't think we can put all their economic miracle down to debt. They had a massive global manufacturing competitive advantage for starters. But getting back to Covid-19, this is why they can't lockdown hard. China's zero tolerance policy is not possible now. Tough decisions for them.

one judge completely crazy can overturn previous rules for the entire country works both freaking ways. its worked that way for years now. BRAVO judge go for it make up rules as you go no problem as long as they are falling in line with my likes and dislikes. YOU act like a child if you think this has not been going on for a very long time.

So much for the folks cheering the lack of a mandate. Why not just let the freaks wear masks when they want and the normal folks wear no mask when they want?

That 24% are the vocal ones and have been making flight attendants lives miserable. I would hate to work a job where I had to enforce mask policy. Still mostly masked on the train despite the injunction. Also, my work is encouraging masking when in close proximity again due the uptick in cases (which I am told in this forum is not happening).

And as weird as all of this sounds, even to the mask and vax skeptics; I live in a state where the current primary candidates for governor and other high adminstrative offices are campaigning on their bonafides towards fighting all vax and mask mandates. Meanwhile; the current incumbents seeking office left a large percentage of Covid 19 patients to travel to adjacent Washington State for care in the wake of their active denial of medical crisis. They are pursuing the same posture on other social care issues (which I won't specifically name to avoid the "political" discourse ban) as though these health circumstances don't exist. This isn't China or Russia but seems scarily the same for the citizens. Health and truth are getting sicker by the f*cking moment in the US.
