If you go by the "last full season" these are their following costs:

Ricco - 1136
Di Luca - 930
Rebellin - 1807
Pellizotti - 987
Valjavec - 514
Rasmussen - 254
Kashechkin - 1230

Who would have picked any of these? I would have still thought about the Cobra but you wouldn't take a second look at any of the others. If you set the costs like this they will all be priced out of any possible decision. People should be able to make up their own minds rather than just saying we can't choose them.

Valverde goes by his 2009 value anyway as technically he doesn't exist for the 2010 season.

And what's wrong with that? Lots of top riders are too expensive to pick in this game. That's just part of the game. What's special about these riders?

Another thing worth mentioning is that I want to discourage people from picking dopers. Like insgve this year with Alex Rasmussen, picking a rider who gets busted (but not convicted, hence doesn't lose his points) kinda ruins the game.

I know cycling also works that way in real life, where one must be rather ****ed if riding clean, only to get beat by someone who later gets a suspension due to doping.

I'm not saying that previous dopers are all doping once they get back on the bike, but anything to prevent doping cases in the game would be good in my opinion.

Also, like ingsve mentioned, what's so bad about riders having a high score? Surely they must have been on that specific level at some point since they scored so many points. It could also go the other way around. I know of atleast one rider who would be less expensive if we go by the "last full season" rules compared to his 2011 score.

Indeed, what's special about them that they need another layer rules just for them.

So what do you suggest?

What was wrong with it this year?

Like I said, just ban them if you want to put their price "beyond" what is reasonable. Better than overly inflating their price whilst pretending they are still available to be picked.

Well, they have that in the UCI too, now that their points don't count until 2 years after they come back (although that's confusing too, as I'm not sure if that means calendar years or 24 months from when they're eligible for return).

You're right that it's a tricky situation and it might be easiest to ban them, but they get CQ points on that site so maybe we shouldn't. It might be the best solution to have an 'inflated' price for them, so they're available, but not at a 'half season' price. It's not pretending that they're available in my mind, so much as it is recognizing that if they return from a ban for half a season they'll be a deal.

As far as the rest of the game, I'm of the mind that it's more exciting to have more guys to follow, so 35 would be better than 30, but this year was just great so 7500 points and 33 riders would be just fine.

Cavendish going on a show off tour in the rainbow jersey could be my downfall I think. Why can't that guy just quit for the season like normal folks.
Where else is he riding apart from paris tours>? can't see him racking up many points in Oct.

Well he's pretty much a lock for giro d Lombardia. He's a classi:Dcs specialist now.

Just wait til they name him as a contender for Roubaix next year. It's one of the reasons why I didn't want him to win the WC

I could already see the article when they name him amongst the top 10 contenders for the spring classics next year.

-20 Tour stage wins

-Winner of MSR

-Current WC

And then they're gonna mention something about his speed and how it'll be silly to count him out.

As he said, last full year. What's not to understand about that?

example:

Valverde's price: CQ points from 2009.

Are you going to provide a list of dopers with their cost? I dont think anybody here got time to trying to figure was was each doper's last full season.

IMO any rider sitting out for doping as of 1/1/2012 should not be allowed and everyone else should cost the usual 2011 CQ points price.

As per more riders per team, I do agree. That would give us even more variety and more riders to follow. I would even be OK with something like 50 riders per team and buying power of 10000. Thats 200 points per rider. Thats even less points per rider than what we have now.

But I could live even with 50/7500

Not that hard to work out. Here is a list, based on wikipedia's list of cycling doping cases and CQ ranking information, who could have returned this year or could return. Not sure how many will actually race again.

Dekker - 2007: 1083
Astarloza - 2008: 713
Rebellin - 2008: 1807
Valverde - 2009: 2494
Sevilla - 2009: 376 but would be out under Jancouver's suggestion
Caucchioli - 2008: 232
De Bonis - 2008: 126
Bosisio - 2008: 506
Frei - 2009: 167 but would be out under Jancouver's suggestion
Manuel Vazquez - 2009: 257 but would be out under Jancouver's suggestion
Ribeiro - 2008: 240
Isidro Nozal - 2008: 5
Hector Guerra - 2008: 587
Colom - 2008: 305

There is probably more dopers but that is what I have found.

As CQ Ranking does give points to women's races, albeit seperately, can women riders be chosen on 2012 teams?

I think the only problem there is the different forumlas and such needed for spreadsheet. Would make it a tad more complicated anyway, not impossible tho.

I agree that the last full year prior to doping is probably the best idea. They are pretty exspensive, so it is a deteerent to stay clear anyway.

If were having debates regarding the rider/score I say we leave it as it is.
