Tahir having follow through problems, South Africa have problems. 0/169 at lunch. Spider must be enjoying his time in South Africa now.

Meanwhile, Queensland edge out NSW in a tight shield match by 14 runs.

I would take Paul Harris over Imran Tahir , at least Harris is not a total bunny like Tahir. At lunch Australia is 0/169.

Agreed, in hindsight on this pitch he could also have been used as a defensive option which Tahir clearly isn't. Maybe he'll come good in days 4 and 5 (if Australia bat then). Prior to the match, I'd have picked Tahir without a doubt as he's a wicket taker.

Completely unnecessary shot from Watson. He was living dangerously for a great part of his innings.

Edit: Nothing unlucky about this, Ponting gone for a duck. lbw Steyn

1 hour nap during and after tea, Australia have done it as well. 8/257.

Damp squib innings from Australia, 296 all out.

That's pathetic from Australia and some serious questions need to get asked, and another reason why I'm not a fan of T20 (I'll look at the results or follow the circus that is the IPL Auction, or watch a game because nothing else is on, but that is about it).

Something about the openers' approach was wrong. They got away with it completely but both the wickets that fell, fell to unnecessary shots.

Worst thing about the IPL auction is that in one of the years the News channels decided to show the whole auction live.

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in the 3rd ODI.

USA's 2012 Ryder cup team looks very exciting. Add Keegan Bradley into the mix, looks nice. Also Schwartzel going brilliantly.

I'm starting to figure it's a case of you don't have an idea how big cricket is in India unless you go there, right?

T20 and Indian ODI cricket are huge, sadly including the IPL (although after the England tour there has been a lot of bad blood among fans towards the IPL). Tests are a different case, just check the stands in any test match and it's obvious why there are concerns about Test cricket's future.

These players need a tutorial on playing Tests, awful shot from Rudolph.

Although Australia will still win 2-0, I think New Zealand should still feel a bit confident going into their tour of Australia if they can take the half chances that come their way, make the most of any starts and not do their trademark 2nd innings collapse. Huge 'if' though.

It's an 'if' as you say and there's a huge difference in quality of attacks between SA and NZ. Let's not forget that this NZ side scraped past Zimbabwe, who though I love to watch are a second rate test nation at the moment (pains to say that).

It's not the ability to get the top and middle order out that I'm worried about, it will be people like Johnson and Siddle coming together when Australia are 7 or 8 down for not many and those two post a century partnership. I mean there should be no way in hell Jerome Taylor should ever get a Test century. It's their inability to finish teams off is my concern (IMO finishing teams off, especially the lower to tail end is an under-rated skill).

Taylor's was one of the most unbelievable innings. Right mental.

Smith played a pretty stupid shot to get out. McGrath foundation doing their bit in SA as well.

This past fortnight has not been good for cricket.

Extremely talented player but will always be remembered for his inclusion into the England squad which led to cricket taking a stance against racism. One of the best ambassadors to the game.

In a way, it's better that he didn't have to suffer any longer from Parkinson's.

RIP Basil. A legend both on and off the pitch.

edit: Basil D'Oliveira's point of view on the incident of him not being selected to tour South Africa

Auckland needs more batting depth as I notice that Kyle Mills is batting 6 for them, and that's no night-watchman thing either in their FC match against Wellington. Andre Adams (who IMO should have been given more Tests then the 1 he has played) came in the final overs to smash 27 off 9 balls.

Shouldn't be a problem against Wellington :D
I really love Andre Adams, he's now becoming a legend at Notts. Was it Bichel who smashed him for a six after a double bounce delivery in the 2003 World Cup. Still he's been in brilliant form in 2011.

NSW Queensland ODD today. queensland played pretty poorly in their innings. I have a huge problem with the maximum of 13 overs for a bowler, not good for promoting all rounders and captaincy. Ben Cutting's good form has led hi to be selected to Australia A

And last year it was 45 overs, max. 12 overs for a bowler and split innings

Last year's ODD cup (ford ranger or ryobi?) was a joke. It should be in accordance to the international game and the ICC, if it wants to experiment, has to have a standard for all countries.

NSW 1-1 in 2 overs Dan Smith gone.

Ford Ranger was upto 2009/10 then, correct?
Early start today between South Africa and Australia, starts in half hour. Massive first session for Australia.

NSW lose two. McDermott strikes, Cruickshank gone.

Edit: Great session so far for Australia, 3 wickets fallen now including one for Johnson

Starc was crazy accurate for NSW today, to only go for less than 3 runs per over in a OD match is pretty impressive, hell even for Tests and FC matches it's not bad.
