Nice comeback from Ponting, SA will need some early wickets/
Meh, Ponting is having one good innings in a blue moon that the selectors will use to justify his spot in the side. Also, the upcoming NZ tour will help everyone who isn't up to it look good because of how average NZ is

Come on, give Ponting some credit. He has played well so far and considering the middle order's propensity to collapse, this may be a very vital innings, not to mention the match situation.

Now this is just ****. If it's rained off, it has to be one of those jinxed tours where nothing was meant to go right. Still, the curator's done a magnificent job with the pitch. A half century is a good innings and a century a wonderful knock, something that cannot be said of too many pitches around the world nowadays.

Yes it has been a great pitch and test IMO. And I probably shouldn't get started on the topic of pitches that are complete roads. I'll be ranting all night. I really like test matches but even my resolve gets tested when you have pitches that are completely flat and you can score 450 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in a day

He played well, yes. But I don't think he should be in the team. He's had his time. Move on out.

Philander's been around for a while. He's clearly better than what I thought of him at the start of the series. He seems to be a tailor made bowler for England and South Africa and with his consistency he can easily do well in Australia. This big test for him will be elsewhere, in subcontinent and Caribbean conditions, Lonwabo Tsotsobe would be an automatic choice here because of his extra pace and cutters that he bowls. Then again, I really like Tsotsobe and he's been a bit wronged by bowling in the flattest wickets of all time in the WI last year.

Kepler Wessels stated today that he has had issues with his fitness (a la Bollinger) and that was one of the reasons he wasn't an automatic pick in the test side.

The other good thing about Tsotobe is that he is a left hander so he automatically offers something different to the bowling attack, ie give some variety. I think Philander will be just fine when should he (and I don't see why he wouldn't) be picked for the tour of NZ early next year. The conditions should suit him and judging NZ's phobia of pace bowling, it wouldn't surprise me if he cleans up.

Brilliant match, no matter who wins now. Just a brilliant match.

I strongly dislike the new runner rule, seems like a load of b*****ks.

Haddin gone.

Edit: 5 for Philander, what a wonderful series for him.

Siddle gone, 8 down. 18 to win.

Australia win!!

Cummins brilliant, fantastic match. Wow.

Why on earth was this just a two match series? Complete injustice to fans but the teams did their best to make it one hell of an epic series. Best ever 2 match test series (if ever there was a good two match series).

My picks- Cummins MoM and Philander MoS.

Just as much of a joke when Australia and India only had two Tests last year, or SA only playing two Tests in India as well (hang on, there might be a recurring theme here...), and even more of a joke that SA and NZ will be three Tests, but this won't be.

The Australia tour of India should never have taken place, it was a time filler and was pretty unnecessary. SA India being a 2 test series is a travesty, of all teams they are the ones with the best record in India and it has to be respected.
