9 down for 180, Sri Lanka have been awful since the WC final. All out 180.

In less depressing sports Lee Westwood scored a 60 today.

Just saw the article in smh. It says that Clarke will need to accept him in the team and as part of the selection panel, it would require him to approve the move.

Yes, found an article in the smh which says Clarke 'opened the door for Katich'. A captain who's willing to put his ego aside. Wow.

If Katich is going to come back in and Watson is going to play...what will happen to Warner? You can't drop the guy who was the saving face of the team last test. Unless Watson bats down the order.

Am i missing something here? I didn't see the article.

Here's the article
http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/clarke-opens-door-for-katich-to-return-20111215-1ox4i.html

Will Watson be fit for the test? If he is, then there isn't much sense in dropping a player who played so well a few days ago or one of the team's best players. Watson won't drop down the order this test if he's fit, the selectors gave Hussey and Ponting their vote of confidence, so it's two of Warner, Watson and Katich and hopefully Cowan still has a chance.

How about Khawaja and is Harris fit yet? If he isn't Starc has to come in, Harris in if he's fit.

Khawaja needs to score at a faster rate so back to 20/20 and shield cricket for awhile imo

If Watson is not fit Christian comes in and everyone move up a spot

Harris seems to be coming back ok - Starc or Bollinger I guess

I won't bother about the Strike Rate as long as he can bat for some time, that's been Australia's problem recently. Cowan isn't a batsman with a high strike rate himself. That you've replaced Khawaja with Katich makes sense as Khawaja hasn't gone past 30 too often. I wouldn't mind either (Khawaja in NSW has been brilliant at times) and so would have Khawaja as he's in the team. Either way is fine, I expect Shaun Marsh to usurp both when he becomes fit again.

South Africa 0/80, Smith 54 and Rudolph 26

The problem for Harris is that he won't have much game time in him and will have to rely on T20 for bowling form. As good as Harris is, he is pushing close to have the black line through his name if he keeps getting injured.

I'm sick of the whinging by players and the media "oh how great it is that there are only T20s between now and Boxing Day" and "yeh that's a bit strange huh".

Annoys me for many reasons, will save the rant for now though.

Cam Boyce being smashed as expected but he did take the wicket of Dravid. 3/206, Tendulkar 86 of 112 balls.

Sixer versus heat, for all the money that's spent they came up with those names. Delhi Daredevils all over again.

Christian in my view does not deserve to be considered for the test team. I would choose Cowan if ( Watson is out ) and let him score a big amount, then run our bowlers into the ground. We did fine against NZ with our pace attack, so we don't need a bowler who leaks runs and can't bat as good as Cowan.

Mitchell Marsh deserves to be in more than Christian.

I think Starc will still be in for Australia ( for at least one more match ). Apparently Siddle/ Pattinson are carrying injuries as well.

Are you excited or worried for the future by MacGill's and Hayden's performance so far in this match?

South Africa cruising at 2/124.

Amla's failed, out for 18  3/136
Rudolph gone- 4/136. Amla fell when the score was 125.

Katich is back in consideration, we never know, Hayden may well be back for the first test.

Why are the Big Bash strips so ugly? Sydney's okay but it has been always blue for me. Warne's team's strip is rubbish.

Kallis split open after he ducks into a length ball.

McCullum copped a short one from Lee, has had to retire hurt (bleeding a bit).

Supposedly the crowd is not that great? A shame if that was true.

Predictions of 40,000 to 60,000 for the game at the 'G tommorow night.
