Yeah but he shall get the highest score for them. Besides he has probably succumbed to the one day format of the game when he is not on Indian pitches.

Nothing to do with the pitch.. It was a full bunger!

Sat in the outer near the Swarming Army today.. And they are even struggling to provide support for this inept side.

This team are all in denial.

Gambhir cannot play once the ball bounces over hip height.. WTF was he thinking sledging Siddle prior to the game! Serious WTF? Goodbye.
Sehwag was blazing them and it was fun to watch, but it was a very soft dismissal.. Has not fired a shot this tour.
Dravid has clearly seen better days, his time has come IMO.
Laxman was all at sea against Siddle early, but so would anyone, good sustained hostile fast bowling. (Maybe Ishant could take note?) Time is up for VVS though. Pity because he's been one of my favorites.
Sachin may decide to retire on 99 centuries? Nice symmetry with the Don.
Kholi can play, but go down to the hardware store, buy some cement and pop it in your tea petals. Geebus.. 'They swore at me'. Boo Hoo sweetheart... Harden up.

That is all.. Rant over.

you would think sachin retires on home soil tho.
I wanted to see Sachin get his 100 when I was in Sydney. He was close but was out on 80. I would have prefered to see him get it in a test match but I still think he is a decent chance to get it in a ODI match in Australia.

Spider, you must have had a nice time at the ground.
Good article, it was clear what he mouthed. Why the players use expletives for celebration is beyond me? He complains about the fans saying things about his mother and sister and he said pretty much the same when celebrating.

Dancing- good news for the England lions, the team scored 330 in a OD match against Sri Lanka A who scored 270 in response. Jos Buttler scored 102 in 56 balls (top effort) and Hales 94. The fast bowling was absolutely gash Dernbach got 2/60 in 8 overs and Woakes lobbed a few to concede 52 in 7 and get 1 wicket. Nathan Buck, of Leicestershire, took 4/39 in 8. Joe Root arguably bowled the match winning spell of 2 overs for 4 runs. The headbanded hearthrob Jack Brooks;) wasn't playing today.

If they're not getting gigs in subbie FC conditions, the best that can be done is that the cusp players go to Lions tours. That said, I'd like the cusp players to get some form of central contract and make them available for FC cricket in the subcontinent. That way, the sweep won't be used as the only mitigating tool against spin.

Dravid likely to announce retirement
Top man. Had a great series against England and a great year.

Everyone wants to see him get his 100 hundreds.. But when does it become a distraction to him and the team? Still their best bat, so won't retire, but he lingered at the crease today on his dismissal and seemed bemused?

It's undoubtedly affecting him, but he is still the teams best batsman, and he is still scoring runs. I am probably in the minority when I say that I would like him to remain on 99 hundreds - it would just be one of those little quirks like Bradman's average that is so unique to cricket. Though as they were saying on TMS yesterday, it's all abit of a song and dance over nothing - there was no similar fanfare when Murali for instance got his 1000th international wicket.

There are incremental contracts (I think this is what they are called) which are a step below the full central ones - for players in the lions etc. so the ECB already have some control over them. Buttler is one of the cleanest strikers of a cricket ball in England - outshone Pollard on twenty20 finals day a couple of years ago, but should work more on his keeping, he's a far better allround batsman than his county colleague Kieswetter.

Headbanded heart throb?!?!

New Zealand declare on 495 with Watling getting a Test century, and now ZImbabwe are in right trouble at 3/9.

Farked, I tell you. Walk in the park. These two need a 300 partnership.

Aye, but incremental contracts are for players right on the cusp and not for Buttler, Joe Root and such players. That's where the change can be made. Jos is one player I've had many orgasms over, proper talent when it comes to hitting the ball. Josgasms in 5 of the ODI team in the future seems about fine, still needs to improve his play on turners.

Headbanded Hearthrob? Jack Brooks, the successor to Dennis Lillee in the modern game.

Shame, was hoping Zimbabwe were starting to make steps in the right direction but starting to look like they are still not really ready to be playing tests

Nice woof. Taibu gone. Goodness, what has this world come to if Regis Chakabva has to depended on. Waller will save the day. Surely.

New Zealand are definite favourites, but it definitely shouldn't be a walk in the park.

Serious sh!te the Zimbots are in now. A step too far clearly, they're way out of their depths. India vs Zimbabwe should be a tightly contested series.

Gary Ballance, they need him now.

Hang on. Ponting scores 280 runs in his two innings and Siddle gets man of the match?
LOL. Siddle has been the pick of the bowlers over the whole Summer and did deserve some credit but yes Ponting should have been Man of the Match. ABC commentators quite like Siddle.

****stan all out for 214. England need 145 for victory. Sounds like Bell will bat at 3 as Trott is suffering from a stomach bug of some sort and has been off the field for most of the day.

I wish Ajmal would just shut up and stop appealing every time the ball hits the pads. Just because it hits somebody on the pads doesn't mean that it will even hit a second set of stumps.

On a different subject, in some ways I'm kind of happy with the BCCI's refusal to use the UDRS, at least we don't get pointless frivolous referrals by batsmen in the remote chance that they're safe, even though they are clearly out. The Zimbabwean batsmen were doing this, even when they were so plumb in front that I had my own finger up (not really) when I saw it live on TV, which is what it wasn't designed for. I'm in favour of the UDRS in general, but not for batsmen and fielding captains to make referrals when they clearly won't be successful but more clutching at straws.

Sage. Though the BCCI's stance is also a sook.

Zimbots were nearly thrice as good in the second innings. New Zealand would have been bowled out for 170 in the second dig.

7 down now. Sh!t shot, has to be Trots fault.
