Amazing innings, though obviously a good wicket to bat on from both teams scores, bet broad wished he had a slip in after Warner fell.

movingtarget said:Sounds like a niggle but they don't want to risk him. He hasn't torn the hamstring. They just want him raring to go for the return series. With Cummins missing the entire Summer, Pattinson with stress fractures as well and now Bird with the same problem, having Harris fit is vital. Mitchell Johnson might be back simply because of the injury toll. Haddin will get a workout if that happens.
Alphabet said:Who cares? T20 isn't real cricket, it's just batsmen wafting their bats at everything in the hope of a 20 ball 60 that'll land them a big contract somewhere on the subcontinent. And then when they get their contract they keep wafting in the hopes of raises or whatever.
Alphabet said:It really doesn't do anything for me. The main problem with it is that it's entirely unmemorable. Chris Rogers' scrappy, fluke century at Durham will live far longer in the memory than this 150. It's only been a couple of months and already everybody has forgotten about that 27 ball century that Gayle made in the IPL, because feats like that are everyday s.hit in T20 cricket, there's nothing special about it at all. Compare that to say, that masterful century Virat Kohli scored at Hobart in 2012 in an ODI where he destroyed Malinga.

movingtarget said:I'm the same. Just can't get interested in 20/20. For me tests are number one. ODIs are also good. I love road cycling but some formats like team time trials and criteriums don't interest me much either. Horses for courses.
Alphabet said:I'm not narrow minded- I really like 50 over cricket, because it has innings building and it's a fairly balanced format.

50 over is a Pizza Hut: You sit a little longer and has more of a feel of the real thing. Again, ideal when you don't have the time or are introducing children to a more formal style of eating out.
Test matches are dining out at quality restaurant. In the company of others you know you will there all evening having several courses with fine wines and port. At their worst; over priced, disappointing and make you wonder what the fuss is all about. At their best; engaging, surprising and satisfying like nothing else. But not really suitable for children or those who have neither the time nor inclination to immerse themselves in the experience fully.
Test matches are for when you've got into the sport, enjoyed the shorter forms of the game but you hanker after something more wholesome and satisfying.

Not always happy I would guess. What if you find that one of the sides has been cheating and someone brings in video evidence to confirm it (Tampering with the ball(s) as it were).Alphabet said:Tests are happy marriages.

Is that why they call it a sticky wicket...?sittingbison said:look for the hot spot?
movingtarget said:Unbelievable. What is happening to Australia's fast bowlers. Starc is now out with a stress fracture of the lower back. He will miss some of the return series and maybe more. At the moment Peter Siddle is the only fit Aussie pace bowler. Looks like Johnson will be in for sure re Aust test series. Binga and Shaun Tait might get the call up at this rate ! Even Hilfenhaus. Here we are worried about finding a good spinner and we don't have any pace attack of quality. Harris should be ok after a hamstring twinge, hopefully. At the moment Bird, Cummins, Starc and Pattinson are all injured with stress fractures of varying severity. Thankfully Clarke's back seems okay after all of his problems.
