Me thinks:

.Brad W was not fussed with Yellow. He seemed to push hard in the Prologue...so I figure that was simply one of his "tests" for the Tour
.Sky are happy to give up Yellow...testing TdF strategies? avoiding unnecessary pre Tour fatigue/stress
.Sky are probably focussed only on Tour prep because they had EBH as a good chance for today's stage...instead they had EBH drilling it early on for way too long
.BMC were happy for Phil Gilbert to cover any attack, sit in and go for the win...however
.Cadel noted the attack collapsing and decided wth...I'll counter attack
.Cadel was just testing himself on a descent attack (see effective use of same in TdF 2011)
.Cadel happy to place wherever (2nd? 5th)...why mess with a winning strategy, finished Dauphine 2nd last year win TdF...Thumbs up
.Both Brad and Cadel will take a win but only on their terms (with Cadel being a bit less fussed).

See Cadel's post race interview: he seemed delighted with the process and outcome. Importantly he intimated that there were still improvements to be made. I don't read this as someone "gunning for GC" at all costs. He really wants another Maillot Jeune on the "Champs".

I have not seen any Brad interviews however he appeared less than delighted with today's outcome...maybe he just had his serious race-face on?

Hopefully they are both at peak come the 3rd week of July

Excellent summary me thinks;) Brad in one of his post race interviews says he really wants to do the ITT in his GB skin suit and that they will (respectfully - that's me reading between the lines) lose the jersey over the next few days but not by so much. Was pretty diplomatic when it came to Schleck in that he didn't respond directly rather went on to explain why it was a strange finale. God knows what Wiggins and Evans are really thinking about him.

Did I hear Brad right saying he'll try and lose yellow tomorrow so he can wear his Sky skinsuit in the TT?

Congrats to Evans. He has trained hard and then he comes away with a stage win- which is great fighting spirit.

Congrats to Wiggins though for taking yellow.
I feel sorry for Samu and hope he is not bad. Andy... was disappointing and on a stage that should have suited him.

Huh? Brad isn't GB time trial champion

Sorry, must have been GB RR skin suit:eek: The quote was from an interview at the end of GB Eurosport coverage which is being repeated in 5 mins if you can stay up for another hour;)

Howlett is the GB TT champ. Wiggins just wants to wear his custom made team sky gear rather than the yellow jersey made for whoever has the yellow jersey. Over a long time trial it probably does make a difference even if its just a mental one

Who's Howlett?

Dowsett is TT champ.

The skin suit thing with Wiggo is he wants to use his regular Sky suit.

I guess it is a full custom fit and that may make a tiny bit of wind resistance difference over a yellow jersey and shorts. Or it could be the TT equivalent of 'lucky pants' - either way it has been working so far this year.

Alex Dowsett is GB TT champion.

The ASO yellow skinsuit he was given for Paris Nice was a rubbish fit on him so I can understand he'd rather use their own skinsuits.

Although frankly I'd be amazed if Sky didn't have any yellow Sky specials made up, at least for Le Tour, just in case.

Do you guys think Andy dropped out at the final climb so he could be free to try a break away or something? Is there any reasonable explanation for not trying on that climb? Why would he want to drop out of that climb, but contest a future climb in a couple days? Is he really that out of shape??

All he had to do is wait for the time trial and he would have had plenty of deficit to have freedom to breakaway.

Looks like he really is that out of shape.

Great to see Kashechkin returning to his shape of best days... He was completely out between mid 2007 and now, concerning results, and I already lost hope he´d ever come back.

A classy rider can lose form, but never loses his class. Seems to be on track for the Tour.

Never count out the Astana boys, Iglinsky finally got his big win in LBL, now I hope Vino will have a fine final Tour, and that Kash will do Top10 in France.

We don´t know much about Menchov´s time since Romandie DNF, we´ll know more after this week. If - and it´s not unlikely - Andy Schleck loses his 5 mins on Thursday´s TT, we know that the Tour will be between Evans, Wiggins and Menchov. This could be the most interesting Tour since 2006, or even 1998, result-wise (not profile-wise, because the profile this year is really unspectacular). Evans and Menchov know how to win a GT, and Wiggins is certainly one of the most professional riders of our days, so this will be a really fine battle, just the opposite of the Armstrong or Contador one man shows.
It´ll be hard for A. Schleck to ever win it on the road, he can be glad he got the 2010 win via green table.

It looks like its a rights issue. Addidas make all the stuff for team sky but the yellow jersey is made by le coq sportif. They must be a co-sponsor of the yellow jersey/ASO.

We wont know about Menchov until they have finished stage 1 in Le Tour. I think it will be between Menchov and Evans for the win and Wiggins v Nibali v Samu v Andy for podium.

On Brit Eurosport the expert ( the Endura boss *** can't remember his name ) after suggesting he was a disgrace to the people who turned out to watch speculated the ride may have been some kind of protest - as he didn't look in any difficulty.

Who knows? Things do not seem right chez Bruyneel though - or this is a huge hustle...
