meh, the current version is great. Just enough for everybody to have a go.

The version you came up with will result in nothing as everybody will wait until the weekend.
What action happened today which wouldn't/couldn't have happened with the alternative design?

when the route was designed nobody could imagine the overall weakness of the sprinter teams we have here.

Get the picture?
So stronger sprinter teams would've meant more action??? And despite the last 25km being the exact same, a cat 1 climb 40km from the finish would've prevented any (better) action to happen???

The sprinters would have wheeled in the break setting up an opportunity for action on three fronts.

- Break win
- Srpinter win
- GC rider stealing the win and bonus secs.

That was the overall design idea. Its simple. Think about it. I know you can.

I wonder if that happened in the tour, would Contador/Saxo wait?

Sorry, I still don't get the logic that means that a climb 40km out prevents attacks in the last 5km.

Too bad about Froome crash.
Hopefully he will be ready for the action tomorrow.

That injuries despite how bad it look, seemed just superficial, but riding hours on a bike everything counts.

Hopefully he's ok, we want to see another tête-à-tête :)
