That's the entire point. Attack to force a rise in pace, get caught, someone else goes, rinse and repeat until the group is small enough for the team leader to attack.

Looks like Denifl might yet take this, unless someone puts in a really big move from the peloton.

I was expecting something from Menchov after all that chasing Rabo did...

Perhaps Contador is friends with many of the RS riders... he was their teammate for a while. It could be that on his part he only dislikes Lance (and maybe some of Lance's closer allies like Horner and Leipheimer).
