i didn't say he was no good, but he will struggle to get top 10 in the tour. he is always there, or thereabouts but never at the top.

You can't get much closer to the top than second:rolleyes:

Umm..I must have missed that part in last years Dauphine when Alberto attacked

Apparently you did. Because it happened. Nothing sustained. Nothing for the win. But he put in several digs to test his form.

"The only attack was the one from Alberto Contador on the final hill, and Cadel Evans responded," said the Spanish champion, who's predicting nationality won't play much of a role in the outcome of Saturday's challenging stage.
(Stage 6)

He attacked multiple times during this stage, but again nothing sustained. He covered Evans wheel basically the entire race because, at the time, Evans was considered the biggest threat to him at the Tour.

Sorry FanBoys, but Alberto tried to win the Stage today - and FAILED.
Alberto will try to win the stage to Alpe d'Huez too.
Probably will win that one.

And of COURSE Alberto will be much stronger come July DUH.
Alberto will drop Jani Toot Sweet come July.

Last year Contador was training/playing with the likes of Valverde and Evans, now with Brajkovic, Taaramae and Van den Broeck. Of course you can't really see how good in shape he really is but he didnt look as smooth as last year to me, grinding his teeth while Brajkovic had no problems staying on his wheel.

Stage 7, on Saint-François-Longchamp. Both Evans and Valverde stayed with him

im impressed with romain Sicard, didnt expect him to be so strong, nice 2nd place

btw i ve never seen nonspanish rider in euskaltel before

Sicard is from a French speaking region of the Basque country (Bayonne). In an interview once, he considered himself 50% French and 50% Basque.

About 7 years back or so EE had a Colombian rider (by nationality) with Basque roots (Etxebarria? or something like that).

Edit: Not Colombian, Venezuelan Unai Etxebarria. No relation to David Etxebarria

No time bonuses.

Contador can still win this GC if he wants too, there is no way Brajkovic holds his wheel on the Alpe if he really wants to go for it.

I agree. I'll be waiting for that stage. It ought to be a real indicator of things to come in July, whether AC goes for the Dauphine GC or not.

All from british people, obviously.

There aren't. I thought that that was what Jani was after but remembered that actually there aren't.

As for never believing the "I'm just here to train" line, did you believe it when Armstrong used it for every single race except the Tour de France for six years after 1999?

No, I never believed it when Armstrong said it either. Ditto, Any other rider at the sharp end of the peloton. They may go into a race without intending to go all out to win it, but very rarely can folks that competitive decide to turn off the gas in the name of "training".

I still don't believe Armstrong when he says it.

Haha, you sir, know jack squat about cycling. Sanchez is very strong, but what the hell is wrong with him in this Dauphiné, no idea.

+1 the post you responded was breathtakingly ignorant. there has been an epidemic lately on the entire forum.

know more about it than you i bet.

I doubt it. My vote is with theyoungest considering some of the statements you've made regarding Sanchez. What happened? Did he run over your dog or something?

I'm very interested to see what Alberto decides to do at Alpe d'Huez, I would imagine he would like to win that stage.

Yep. Armstrong would have won today's race easily. EASILY.

I beg your???? I think most people will become desiluded with Armstrong on the Tour... If only Basso has the same strenght and will he had shown in the Giro (what will be too much to ask for), that would be interesting to see how Contador would match such power! On what regards Lance ... just forget it!..
Today I was somehow disappointed with Contador but it seemed he wasn´t careying about today's stage. Let's see it on the Huez, because if Contador wants to, Brajkovic will fall like a stone.

Yep. AC may do what he did to evans to menchov this year. May try to gift the win to Samu.

The corrupt spaniards have this stage in the bag.;)

Corrected that for you since I know that it was tongue in cheek statement, right?

Lance win easily? If you say so:)
But the FanBoys know the days of Lance winning the Critérium du Dauphiné are History.

Lance won the Dauphiné twice in his run-up to TdF Victory.

But Lance also lost once to Mayo - but still won the TdF that year.
Lance made the comment back then that it "was only June" or something.
FanBoys knew it was true. Can't deny it.
And Lance kicked Mayo's **** when July rolled along.

The Alberto Fans have no need to worry either. Seriously.
Alberto will kick Jani's **** come July. Bang Bang Bang Bang.

You're still living in the past. The new RadioShack team is based upon a selfless devotion to winning the team classification. They don't care about measly individual results. Contador can beat Jani, but there's not enough bang in that gun to tackle the Nine Musketeers.

Snack Attack!

Contador again shows his immaturity and poor decision making. Everyone knows if he had been riding a Trek, he would have felt very comfortable on his bike and would not have needed to perform unnecessary tests of his equipment.

Plus he would have had that awesome fin Treks have so he could play pin the tail on my Trek with his friends after the race.

+1 to RadioShack

Interesting how long it takes for a thread about a race that Lance Armstrong isn't even participating in to become all about Lance Armstrong.
