Froome looks like the Dead Sea Scrolls while Geraint is more like Phantomas.

not a fan, but i give froome credit.

he is battling back from a potentially career (life?) - ending injury. he never asks anyone to be sorry for him. he just battles as best he can and then continues to stay positive.

it must be very hard to see riders you used to drop easily passing you by.

he is a real fighter. and i think credit for that should be given.

Roglic might have the same issue that he had at the Giro last year. But the big difference this year is his team. That would make a big difference. His team will help him save energy for the third week. He will be in better position.

I have a question, did Roglic train outside during the lockdown?
Yes, he did, the roads were open to cyclists in Slovenia, and the first race of any significance post-lockdown was the Slovenian nationals where he beat Pawg-AKA, Flatbread-čar.

As far as I remember, his training wasn't affected by the local measures.

Well, I'm sure that's not the only reason for TJV's success, but if it became clear that the riders not under strict lockdown had a significant advantage at the Tour after all, that would be annoying to see. I hope it's just a momentary impression.

He had digestive issues at the Giro last year.

Sivakov meanwhile also incredibly disappointing today

I'd like to point out, that we have no confirmation of Roglič peaking too early for the last years Giro, but we do have a story from Roglič himself, that he's had serious digestion problems and didn't feel well or as we might say, he was and felt ill. (Now one could argue, that his illness is the result in (in sense of materialisation) of his early peak, but a lot of people get ill without being pro cyclist that peaks to early). Then came the team cars "natural break" and subsequent accident, which was much worse than he was ready to admit at the time, trying to still scrape something out of the Giro, even though abandoning was seriously contemplated. Now I might be naive, but I believe that Primož does not like to talk often or much, but when he says something, he is above all else, honest, so I believe the story.
What can also be said in retrospective is that Nibali was very right when he said "Roglič is not gonna win the Giro ridding like that" after Roglič preferred to mark Nibali at all cost and let Carapaz get away... Of course Roglič (or Nibali) at the time could not foresee the problems awaiting him around the corner, and it can be a mildly interesting "what if", to speculate how the Giro would go if Roglič just tried to take all the time he could when he still could (if he (as I believe) actually could).

The others are riding themselves into form, and that’s not to take anything away from TJV.

There’s also the fact that this years results will likely be distorted in one way or another just for the fact that different riders will physically react to the lockdowns differently. Some will peak easier coming out of the quarantine than others.

It could be that a rider like Pogacar, Mas, Landa, Valverde or even Betnal or any other rider won’t have the results expected because maybe they need more racing in their legs and the quick buildup to the TdF hinders their Preparation in different ways than say Roglic or Pinot. It could go in any direction at this point.

That doesn’t diminish anyone’s success but this is going to be a weird year at the TdF that may distort some results and cause conclusions that could flip next year assuming that racing returns to a more normal season through a full year.

Roglic and Kuss looked fresh at the finish. Expected more from Bernal. Porte not a bad ride but Roglic is looking like he is in pre Giro 2019 form. And he looked probably better in the Vuelta against weaker opposition. Dumoulin and Froome obviously have work to do. Slightly surprised by Ala and Bardet's rides. Pinot looks pretty solid but he often does until the middle of the third week of the Tour ! Quintana was pretty good as well.
