Amazing ride by Bouwman. What the f were FDJ doing? Demare would have won the sprint with his eyes closed.

They didn't commit riders early enough expecting the other teams to do the work. Glad the break hung on to that one, the peloton didn't deserve it

They couldn't even get out of Bouwman's slipstream.
No idea what FDJ were thinking, maybe they just wanted to prove a point.

I definitely hope so, because Demare is by far the fastest guy here.

FDJ messed that up - but chapeau the breakaway! KOM and sprint king :D
De Gendt is still KoM.

So close to our first procontinental WorldTour win this season :(

Break worked well together and it helped that there were 2 teams with 2 riders in it. Glad they hung on, FDJ and Katusha only teams in the peleton prepared to ride and it wasn't exactly full committment.

Any speculation on tomorrow on GC? I'm thinking LRP may put the other major players into discomfort.

I swear to god I didn't know 4 out of those 6 riders in the break, but its always a pleasent surprise when such a break fools the peloton.

Me knew 4 but not including the stage winner :D Maybe I just didn't put enough attention and never caught any race when he mattered before. But chapeau, a fun win!

The broadcast starts at 15:00, so we should be able to see all the action. Looking at the profile of the TT though, it isn't completely pan flat as some might have been suggesting. When you gain more than 100m in less than 2 km, that is certainly not flat. Does anyone know how the wind situation might look?

I'm not great at maths, but that strip at 15.5km - 17.5km is about 2km at 5%, no?

You are correct! It is not a huge climb or anything but the route is hillier than the final TT in the Giro. That was the deffinition of pan-flat for me.
