...But Buchmann is probably the slowest guy on the whole team and Kirby has tipped him as an outsider for about half a dozen sprint stages.

I assume he kept getting him mixed up with Ackermann, who actually is a sprint prospect.

I was thinking this too.
I think it may be a mixture of getting confused between Ackermann (fellow teammate) and Kris Boeckmans (who is obviously a solid sprinter) - if you have Kirby's brains and put the two together you get Buchmann :D

Schwarzmann is there, too, fortunately Schachmann is not.

All-rounders who are preparing for the Tour will more likely go all out in the tt than in the mountains.
Should be exciting time trial.

In my opinion, people forget that riders can only really tell where they are, especially in comparison to their rivals, BY riding full out. This is the race where riders want to compare themselves to their top rivals for the tour.
I think almost everyone will be riding all out for the whole race

I think there are riders who are taking more conservative approach, and for them a tt is better test than the mountains. Mostly because of the effort management and recovery. Contador is saying he's taking that kind of approach this season. I'm sure there are others, as well.
