Well, the fovourite with this route for le Tour is Quintana, but Froome has showed today what he can do at just 75 % shape with some of his rival of the Tour at 90. He is a great rider who never surrender, althpugh he wanst very clever today for the sprint.

In the Tour we wll see for Contafor how to ride the Giro for him is not a big problem..as looking Quintana doing as always, and as looking at him doing similar as always after his santion (without crashes)

Give the guy a break for gods sake, it's hardly the end of the world. Patently english isn't his first language, but still better than I could post in spanish or portuguese.

70 kg surely. Really, it was not a big surprise that (form permitting) he would be the best out of that group

Not Froome's biggest fan but he is an absolute maniac on descents now and the camera work was fantastic alright. Was spoiled a bit by Kirby yelling platitudes about Froome anytime he opened a gap of more than 50m on the chasing group. I think it was the camerawork that made it, not necessarily that they put much time into those coming behind but rather that the nature of the narrow road and technical bends helped the spectacle.

Not a very encouraging day for anyone other than Fuglsang, Froome, Porte, Martin and Aru. Four of those five on the other hand will be feeling very good about their climbing level. The fifth, Froome, will be pleased about holding Porte's wheel but less than overjoyed about not being the clear strongest.

Yeah, you're right, he's about 72 kg. I thought he was taller than he is (1m84). Still, I would've thought Bettiol or Pauwels would've lasted longer.

Yes, they stopped finishing at the Velodrome for a few years because some factory paid to have the finish at their door. Just a random road.

I know I watched the race late, and I'm late, but: Chris Froome on the descent, what an animal! I think the 3 others in that bunch crossing the finish line together have 15 seconds over everybody else today just because they were able to struggle enough to follow him down.

Mont du Chat is the perfect climb. Steep, right length, steep descent, and with a lot of trees to shelter from wind. So no excuses for climbers for not attacking.

totally agree, just watched the last 18k, and man, the pictures from the descent were magnicent.

I know it won't, nor it shouldn't happen, but what a spectacle would it be to see downhill time trial on terain like this. Also the results could be funny, as the descending skills will only show, when you're the one to choose the line and to choose the time, when to hit the breakes.

I think Kirby now owns the Guinness World Record for the amount of ejaculations in a 10-min period after today. I can't imagine his performance being eclipsed very soon...

Pauwels was the huge huge favourite in the group, normally 3 levels above the rest of the group as a climber and in the betting-markets he was also huge favourite and the rest including Naesen barely given any chance. One can not blame Ag2r for not thinking Naesen would have a chance to beat Pauwels, and therefore going for Bardet that afterall was one of the biggest favourites to win the stage in the peloton. It was just bad timing with Pauwels having a bad day. And Naesen also sat on the wheels in the break after Ag2r was chasing. If they had not done so he would not have been able to do that and perhaps he would not have been the strongest then.

stage 7: Profile final 30 km to Alpe d'Huez

Interesting last 30 km - not a long grind, little breaks and places to attack. Who feels well after yesterday could do some damage. LRP to go full ***?

I really enjoyed the last 25km. Nice stage.

At the top of Mont du Chat the gaps were:

Aru

at 10s
Porte, Froome, Fuglsang

at 1:02 from Aru
Valverde, Bardet, Contador

So there were 52s between the two chasing groups. Valverde and Bardet came 50s behind at the finish line. They took only 2 seconds on Froome. Knowing that Valverde and Bardet are two of the best descenders in the peloton, it's safe to say Froome did a really good job going downhill. He really has improved immensely in that aspect in last couple of years. Props to him.

Really happy with the route of this year's Dauphine. A time trial *before* the mountains to shake things up, and stages 6 and 7 have an excellent last 30km compared to the usual bland w/kg slugfest MTFs. Stage 6 was near guaranteed to have attacks on the climb + an exciting chase on the descent + flat.

I like him very much. Not for his sport level but rather how ambitious he is. Last year Tour he obviously had no leg and even that tried to win everything. For some ppl it looked pathetic but for someone who at least once tried endurance test it looked very impressive. For sure. Would be fine if he finally confirm hes very talented

If Contador still wants to attack, this is the stage.

Porte just wants to drop Froome today or tomorrow, to satisfy his own ego. Once will suffice - I think. Tomorrow is more of a Porte finish, but let's see.

I can't imagine Aru not winning a stage with his current form.
