Much and all as I like Rog and I do like him alot Vingo is stronger at the moment and he knows it...His ITV4 interview seemed non committal about his 'support' role at the Tour and believe me one of them will have to chase Pog down in a domestique role at some stage

Lets hope JV have some better tactics this year to tire Pog out

Are you only counting long mountain stages or are you suggesting Vingegaard held back on the ITT, the penultimate stage, or both?

The JV guys achieved a record-breaking 34'34'' on Plateau de Solaison averaging a VAM of 1779 m/h (estimations of 6.32 and 6.27 w/kg for Vinge and Primoz). Not that surprising considering how brutal the tempo was from the bottom of the climb. This is a very fast climbing for 30+ minutes signalling they are ready for TdF challenges (steep gradients upped a bit VAM values though).
What is more surprising is O'Connor losing so little time to the duo (with impressive 1765 m/h of VAM). Another 4th place on the cards?

Today Roglic had a weaker day? Oh my, did I really just read that. I mean if that was weak, where can I sign that he'll have the same day at TdF...

Yes, he had "a weaker day". He could only stay in the wheel of Vingegaard, who constantly had to contain himself. In addition, the opposition was absolutely not of Tour level.

Meanwhile, Vingegaard himself has stated that he can win the Tour this year. Perhaps a bit too optimistic (versus Pogacar). But in doing so, he clearly refers to Roglic's mediocre condition. Roglic will definitely get even better in the next few weeks.

A lot of cyclingfans and journalists did see Roglic risked dropping. Look at the video of the climb again. It is so obvious. Also Vingegaard noticed. Of course, he had to wait and wait for Roglic all the time. So much so that Vingegaard is now even proclaiming that he can win the Tour this year. I think he can be the better than Roglic, IF allowed to by the teammanagement. But Rogla will still be better than him.

Of course, he had to wait and wait for Roglic all the time. So much so that Vingegaard is now even proclaiming that he can win the Tour this year. I think he can be the better than Roglic, IF allowed to by the teammanagement. But Rogla will still be better than him.

I'm prickly on the subject but I didn't like the way Jonas kept on looking at Roglic again, again & again. He couldn't take his eyes off him. What was the point of that?

And I mean who cares if Rog wasn't even that good on the final climb? Sepp Kuss could write a book about his hilarious chaperoning adventures with Roglic in the Tour of Spain, including a little episode on the Angliru when Rog started zigzagging on Sepp's wheel when he bonked.

This happens. No big deal. This was also on day 8 of racing on the sort of finish Roglic has historically speaking not enjoyed after so many race days. The TdF meanwhile doesn't have such a scenario because there's a first rest day after 3 days of racing & then most of the difficult stages are midweek.

Why not. There is now G.R.O.S.K. club and G.R.O.S.K. club and G.R.O.J.V. club and Movistar, Pogi ... All can "drag" Rogla up the climbs just fine.

Nah, I believe Roglic is number one & Jumbo treat him very carefully for very good reasons, including for sport reasons & also loyalty. Vingegaard wasn't catapulted into Jumbo as a hot prospect, he was mentored by Roglic & directly benefitted from the established system around Rog. It's worth remembering Lotto were pretty much nowhere in 2016 & 2017 (other than Kruijswijk's natural consistency). But in terms of GC fighting for the biggest prizes & not just finishing behind the best, Roglic is Jumbo & Jumbo is Roglic.

Vingegaard has done well but it would be a form of betrayal for TJV to abandon Rog at this moment. He's a nice guy & would just ride into the Parisian sunset smiling with his victorious teammate, but losing the TdF against someone who wouldn't even be there if not for Roglic breaking down barriers & putting Jumbo where they are would be pretty sh*tty.

That said, he looked fine on the technical Carpegna descent in Tirreno-Adriatico (unlike Porte) when there was even a bit of loose gravel on the tarmac.

I'll have to look at the footage again, but at the time, as I've said, it did not seem to me Roglic was in trouble. At any rate, at the Tour I expect Pogacar if he feels good to put in a really big attack in the mountains and then we shall see who has the better legs between Roglic and Vingegaard.

Considering it already happened on multiple occasions in the past. It's reasonable to expect to happen again. That is for Rogla to beat Pogi. And obviously the other way around too. I would give them 50:50 chance. In regards to the TDF 2022.
