The point I am making is these roads are not new, these conditions are not new so what is causing the crashes...disc breaks, racing tactics, riders bike handling

whatever it is its needs to be discussed by teams as its destroying the sport as a spectacle

and it not good enough to say its too wet to sprint ...

Kirsch first on the line!

I checked here before I checked the liveupdate on PCS, which meant I didn't know about the neutralisation. I actually thought Kirsch had won.
I was hoping Mads P. would win, but only because then I could have made a joke about it being a Madssive Danish day!

Yeah, the post "if I speak..." clearly warrants a detailed analysis on my part of all GC contenders and their mishaps.

There's probably a reason Tadej almost never crashes and Remco and Roglic often do, and that reason is probably not sheer luck.
I don't think he has been near any mass-crash in the peloton this year.

I don't think today or the Itzulia crash is down to whether or not it involves Pogi or Rogla. It's just bad luck to be present when it happens.

That's if you believe in luck. You can argue for, 'There's no such thing as luck.'
There were around 50 riders involved between today and Itzulia, suggesting it’s purely about skill is not realistic, but yes certain riders are more prone than others.

UAE often take control on the descents so Pogi doesn't have to ride behind other riders.

And in flat run-ins you can often see how there is a little rider-free space ahead of him.

Maybe he is the only rider that the others respect enough to not divebomb, maybe I'm just seeing things.

There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging some riders have had things go in their favor (or not in their favor) this year or other years. Not sure why that’s controversial.
Everybody has had crashes though or had "bad luck" at some point. These things are like ebb and flow.

Some people just like to cherry pick to spin their own narrative, which is obvious in this matter. I think this the main problem here, where someone just want to deny all the bad luck/crashes one have received to diminish their talent and achievements for own selfish reasons. To enrage others. That someone is getting called out for that isnt controversial... people are just observant of it.

No doubt his positioning is the best in the sport and to be commended. I think it’s fine to acknowledge a ton of crazy events are breaking in a favorable way too though.

So no mass-crash today if Pogi was here?

Yes, but when it's being used to diminish him and his achievements and it's the first thing to be put on the table when others crash, it's really annoying.

This. If I was a sponsor at this point there is no universe in which I would invest dollars in this nonsense. You invest in what looks like a great team and overnight half of it is gone, for whatever reason. I don't know if the riders are just riding like crazy maniacs or what the hell the problem is, but as AAC said it's just killing it. You've got the reigning TdF champ still questionable and 2 out of the 3 other biggest Tour contenders just centimeters away from being out again after already returning from big crashes. Not to mention Tao G. Hart, Bernal, Hindley, WVA, and on and on, it seems like it's every time you turn around now.

I know it's a dangerous sport, I've been a serious cycling fan since 1983, I get it. But unless I am suffering from a severe case of recency bias I have never seen it like this, and I don't know about anyone else here but I'm ready to move on. There are other sports I love to watch which aren't the equivalent of a rolling meat grinder. Jeezus.

Exactly.

People know that he will win the race, so there's no point in fighting for position.
Also, if you crash Pog out, you get a personal visit from this guy.
