It was an error, Schachmann was never in the break apparently and it was Tejada instead.
Yeah, I know. Maybe I worded that wrong, it was just to express my disappointment after initially (but wrongly) thinking they had done something clever.

Anyway, I think SQS shouldn't be working at this point, at least not before Visma even helps in the chase.

Ok, I wasn't sure whether or not you thought that Quickstep pulled out Schachmann from the break to help in the chase, which would have indeed be an incredibly stupid move. So I felt in case that it would be nice to reassure you a bit about their tactical abilities.

Top guys can give Lipowitz 5 minutes easily, it's the guys that are here for 9th place that should be worried.
I feel like only Pogacar should have that confidence tbh. It's Vingegaard's first race in a while and Remco was dropped in the mountains in Romandie.

Like Tejada, Romeo in the break, sure. Lipowitz is good enough to compete even without being given time imo. Particularly on the sort of mountains we have in the race

It would kinda be great if Lipo to win this race, due to UAE, Visma and SOQ tactical blunder.
I like Lipowitz, I think he is a great GC prospect for German cycling - but let's get real, at the moment he's not even at Skjellys level, he may be in a years time but we are not there yet.

When the big 3 go in the big mountains they will leave him in their dust.

That doesn't mean they should hand him significant time today - and they won't - but he is not really a threat to the overall.

I guess the 3-4 best climbers from the break will go on the hill and make it to the finish with a minute margin or so, unless Vingegaard and Pogi go full berserk mode on the climb.

With Skjelly you mean Skjelmose?? Lipowitz beat him this year at P-N and Itzulia.

He crashed out quite hard of P-N you may remember - and Itzulia was his first race back and didn't have any big mountains.

He was 1:16 ahead of Lipowitz in the final Vuelta GC, riding for himself, while Lipowitz was riding for Roglic. I don't know they seem pretty close to me. But as always: time will tell, results will show.

Are you actually trying to argue that longer climbs are better for Skjelmose? Especially compared to a relative diesel in Lipowitz?

Feel like we might get a situation where the break gets to the last climb ~30 seconds ahead and we see the aliens go crazy to bridge and form a small group that goes to the finish

Visma and UAE sharing the work in front of the peloton with the gap down to 1.30 - I think we will see GC action on the last climb.

Clearly this will all get back together for the final hill. Then Milan can watch the peloton ride off into the sunset. Will somebody like Evenepoel go for it? Seems suited to him.

I'm still not sure we will see any GC attacks. It feels more like making sure Lipowitz doesn't get more than 2 minutes.

I'm not sure they catch them before the climb - I think the best climbers can stay away across the top unless the gap drops to below a minute.

But what matters is who is in the GC group chasing them after the climb - it's a long way to the line.

I don't know, people are frequently coming into Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe thread suggesting either Lipo to lead the Tour or for the team to go stage hunting. As they don't see any other option, at all.

Today we have both, so lets see on how that goes.
