he put 3 minutes (or thereabouts) into pog in Cardiff in 48 kms (and pog medaled in the road race, so in shape).

Yeah, remind me when was the last time when Pogacar was outside of top 20 in a GT TT? Never? That alone shows that Pogacar wasn't in shape for the TT/was too tired from the RR.

On form Pogacar beats Oliveira 9/10 in a GT TT and Oliveira didn't even lose 2 minutes on this TT.

I would say between 1.30 and 2 minutes is possible over 50 kilometres, but hardly more than that.

Wait what happened? Wasn't Lippowitz "dropped" by the 3 guys attacking and driving the group with MVDP at his wheel and suddenly he went over the top in first position?
Did he close the gap and bounced away off camera?

Think so, I was surprised as well and wondering the same.
He did make up time fast once the 12% section was over he doesn't like so much. Guess he paced himself rather well.

then indeed we are in total agreement.

if you read on I said that in a traditional TDF with 100 kms flat ITT, Remco might gain at most 3-4 minutes (exactly what you are saying). And then I said, pog would still not have too much issue getting that back and more in the MTFs.

Please read the full post, I know that it is always easiest to grab hold of one conditional statement and argue with that without taking in the entire more nuanced post.

cheers.
