As soon as Romeo got the small initial gap, the DSs of every other rider in the break should have been on their earpieces yelling: Work! Work! Work! Wasting time trying to save something in their legs was the only thing they couldn't allow themselves to do or the stage win was gone. Yet all too often in situations like this, they do exactly that.

But congrats to Romeo, timed his attack the best and got his rewards.

Just don’t think mvp has the condition yet. Should look different in July. Would like to see him focus on sprint jersey from breaks
He's never winning this unless he just rides away from everyone. And the green jersey is for Philipsen.

Lipowitz gained about 55 seconds today. The big three have just lost this race by underestimating him.

Pogačar and Vingegaard will put minutes into him when the mountains arrive and possibly Remco too.

Great win for Romeo, he can build a very fine career as a stage hunter.

Lipowitz trying to get away, instead of trying to get the group to work to maximise his GC gap - rookie mistake.
The group would have just stalled once Romeo was away, it would have frittered away most of his advantage gained by being in the break.

Congrats to Romeo on his biggest win to date. MVP was the favourite from the break but couldn't control those attacks, his form isn't top either. Unfortunately no GC action on the last climb, Teddy riding conservatively: number of his attacks so far: big fat 0.

Tbf while I think Lipowitz is a dumb tactical rider and often does way too much work, it's hard to put too much blame on him when literally everyone in this group refused to do any work whatsoever. I think he tried multiple times to produce a reduced group but no one (apart from MVDP) was willing to commit.
Just look at the end, where Tejada and Barre prefer to sit on completely to guarantee 2nd and 3rd instead of committing for a tiny chance of catching Romeo.
I mean, I'm normally in favor for the smaller teams but it has to be acknowledged that the UCI points and relegation system leads to a lot of cycling terrorism.

Happy for Romeo, happy that Leknessund, Tejada and Bernard didn't win shite, maybe just me or small sample size but I feel Leknessund has shown some incredible negative racing these last two years.
