Padun crushed all life on earth, he destroyed Kuss!
Maybe Movistar should have used Mas to set a hard pace in the gc group so that MAL could attack a bit later, but if they did that people would make fun of them for helping out Lutsenko.
At least they tried something and Mas let Porte do all the work before.

People look for excuses to dog on Movistars lack of coherent strategy. Even when they do something that actually looks like a pretty good idea, it’s a Movifail.

When they attacked initially there were Ineos, JV, Bahrian at the front so Movistar probably felt obliged to have someone up there as well. Then people whined about Mas not working with Porte, which was rather wise from him, knowing that he has his leader (Lopez) behind while Porte rode more for himself (altough G didn't loose that much in the end).

In the year when G won the Tour, he was crushing everyone in races like this.
Meh, "races like this" is probably an exaggeration, he was good in Tirreno but meh at best in Romandie. Yes then he won the Dauphiné of course, and he might have looked better then, but now he was also caught in a tactical game with Porte up the road riding into yellow. At the finish he was actually the first of rider of the group that he was in today. It might just have been his form on the day as well, but unless he gets dropped big time tomorrow I don't think we can draw too many conclusions.

he was also good in the time trial but bad uphill in Romandie. I'm starting to think he is not much of a climber (yet). Not at this level anyway
He's climbing worse than last year. If you look at his torso, it's clear he's also carrying too much weight. He used to be a swimmer, so that might explain that, but today was just not normal, he got dropped at the start of the climb while the peloton was still 70 guys. DSM completely screwed up his early season, and my faith in them is nearly non-existent.
