Big day for Sky even if Wiggins does not lose any seconds - 3 big days for the whole group may start to feel the pinch on the col du Grand Coucheron, wonder if any teams will help in the chase, I guess the If a French team does not make the break they might want to chase it down.

on another note How well are Ag2r going this session as a team- Roche needs some work but great to see.

Voeckler for the win, IMO. Minimal time gaps, if any, between the contenders.

The Dauphine is a pretty boring race.

The win by VDB2 was great fun to watch. Flat stages are rarely fun, allthough the sprint yesterday was a nice one.
Watching a TT will never be spectacular to watch unfortunately.
THe coming 3 days end on top of a mountain and I expect plenty of action.
Why is the Dauphine a boring race?

Those first two cat. 4 climbs are a bit silly, or?

And Col de Tamie looks really gruesome on this profile - in any ordinary TdF stage riders don't even notice this climb when they're riding it. :D

True, but it's constant up and down so the riders will have a hard time.

For some people every race which doesn't feature three HC climbs per stage and are won by either Contador, Ricco or Rasmussen are considered boring.

The Dauphiné is a great race.

I just had a look at the street view of the Collet dAllervard. Some parts of the road look quite old and rough. Tall Pine trees the whole way up. The final km looks very tough. There will be big time gaps.

I do agree but this stage will be nothing but boring. Also, I think the Dauphine is always an entertaining race.

Les Gets is actually Cwhere Cadel' first ever MTB race as a pro was. Interesting little fact.

If Wiggins cannot handle today's stage, what chance will he have on the following two stages especially if he is in the form other people are saying he is in. I don't see much happening on the top of the GC today unless Vino tries something or Rodriguez. Even then time gaps should not be big.

as another point people keep saying time gaps won´t be much - but 15-20 seconds which is not much will also start to play on the mind of Wiggins or if it´s Jani who gets the 15 - 20 seconds then it´s Evans and Wiggins.

As far as Wiggins peaking too early, maybe he is hoping that he can carry top form into the first week of the tour and the TTT? If Sky were to win then he would be likely to be behind EBH in the GC after stage 1 though.

As far as this stage goes, the last mountain doesnt look that steep so i think the winner (if it doesnt come from a break full of people who are no threat on GC) would be someone like Voeckler, Roche, Taaramae.

Outside the top 10 is basically worthless for Sky in marketing value anyway.
In which country? Sky's involvement in European cycling is not primarily aimed at the UK audience but rather the European, and in particular Italian, markets.

You'd think they would have had a few of the tour team in the giro then? Even if they were only going to aim for a few stages rather than go at it 100%?

Sky Procycling Giro 2011

191 Thomas Lövkvist (Swe)
192 Michael Barry (Can)
193 Kjell Carlström (Fin)
194 Dario David Cioni (Ita)
195 Russell Downing (GBr)
196 Davide Appollonio (Ita)
197 Lars Petter Nordhaug (Nor)
198 Peter Kennaugh (GBr)
199 Morris Possoni (Ita)

Why send your Tour guys if they are already on a different race programme in the run up to the Tour?

ANyhow, the point I was making was that Sky are trying to break into Europe. What better way to do it than getting exposure of any type on your competitors' channels without paying any extra for it?

Wouldn't the yellow jersey go to the first guy over the line in the TTT anyway, assuming there are no time gaps on stage 1?

I think that the lack of people doubling up on other teams tells the story on the Giro/Tour double but maybe they would have sent someone along to aim at a few stages if trying to break into the Italian market. If they are successful in the Tour though then im sure that will be noticed in Italian households.

You are right about getting good exposure by appearing on your competitors' channels. The BBC used to show track cycling with the British team and their Sky logos being the centre of attention;)

Would be an interesting argument to say Klodens season was better than wiggins if that was the case

Martin
1st Paris Nice
2nd Romandie

plus Volta ao Algarve and some TTs.

He's fighting with the other guys above...

Looking at todays stage:

Are there KOTM points on each catagorised climb and the finish?

Are there any points available for the (sprint) points jersey?

good questions...

I would like to know how many points will get the winner ot the stage: 25 like in the other stages, or 15 like in the two ITTs?

Fedrigo for me. This is the only stage in the race that really suits him and he is 7 minutes down so will be given leeway.

Have made money backing him before and love his finishing kick from a small group.

25 points today

From letour site:

- John Degenkolb (HTC-Highroad) wears the green jersey, as he leads the points classification with 58 points. Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky) follows with 47, Wiggins with 40 and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) with 38. Today’s race is not considered a mountain stage, so the points awarded on the finishing line are 25 to the winner, 22, 20, etc.
