Yes but who does AC have to look after him and ride for him on the flats day after day? Even during PN and Algarve Astana seemed vulnerable and AC was isolated the day after a hilly stage. The question is can they back up day after day for him?

I don't recall him being isolated after a hilly stage at Algarve, or Paris-Nice. He was isolated on a couple of occasions at Paris-Nice, but was never in danger. I thought Astana did a great job at Algarve and given the squad they brought with them (left two climbers at home due to injury), a good job at Paris Nice. 2-0 in stage races, isn't a bad start.

And, as the Lance fans like to tell us, it's only March. Between now and July I expect them to gel better as a team, and for some of them to get into better shape (Not Allan Davis, of course :D).

I don't think Contador will need much of a team to be honest. It did not stop him last year.

I don't think AC will need much of a team in any event, if last year is anything to go by. All the Astana boys really need to go is hand out a few water bottles and make sure they don't run into him.

didn't you just confess to being ignorant of the race dynamics ?

here is another feather for your team shack hat (is it a baseball hat):

a half of the radioshackles team attached themselves to the designated leader with shackles that any police unit would envy. way to go team shackles.

Sure, if the goal is to win the Team GC, team Snack did very well today.
Too bad that's something no one remembers, or cares much, but whatever rocks your boat....

I wish I could have a conversation so you guys could understand my excitement levels and what I meant. I am not hailing this as some great victory or anything, just thought those 3 riders had a good day. And I don't give a damn about team GC either, never look at the results.

I don't think anyone expected anything more of armstrong, Contador was a surprise though.

Not really. He saved himself for the effort that established the pecking order on his team while letting the Kazach's have their sponsor moment. This guy is smarter and better than anyone give him credit.

Ok, SportsFans and Monday Morning Quarterbacks....

Even if you are a real fanboy, you will have to ADMIT:

That was NOT an impressive SMACKDOWN by Alberto.
Kind of weaktitted waawaa.

Alberto will think twice before showing up at a race that Lance is in!

I do believe that Lance was beaten soundly by AC suffering from an allergy attack, finishing almost four minutes (3:57) in arrears. Even you can't spin that one.

15 Alberto Contador (Spa) Astana 0:01:08
47 Lance Armstrong (USA) Team RadioShack 0:05:05

Yes, I'm sure he will think twice.

Hey, weren't you the idiot that was saying Contador had dropped out and that his alleged DNF/DNS gave your man Armstrong the "win" by default?

Sometimes I really can't stand the way CN interprets the outcome of races, evidently with the instrumental view in mind, when looking to create interest, to gain something in the future by sensationalistic journalism.

The truth is that Alberto won in Spain and then at Paris-Nice already. So it's natural, consequently, or at least was possible, that he would have had a less than sparkling day in Corsica. Whether or not it was allergy related, is a matter of speculation. However, he did come back straight away with a sound performance in yesterday's time trial, which demonstrates that he recovered well and was in a phase of renewed growth in terms of form, which, had the race been longer, would certainly have permitted him the type of performance we are use to seeing in the mountains on another day.

By contrast Lance was behind, much more than AC both in the mountains and even in the ITT, and without having had the previous winning perfomances this year of the Spaniard, who is in any case younger and in an upward phase of his career.

Alberto won't be the Alberto of 2 days ago on a mountain in Corsica in July that's for sure, and, bar injury or illess, will be the same beast as last year if not stronger in the mountains of the Tour, which will mean big troubles to his rivals.

Of course nothing is a mathematical certainty, though if AC is in top form in July and so is LA, the latter hasn't got even a chance at almost 39 of victory.
