krebs, if you were to make a birthday cake, what would that be? I hate cake and I know you'd come up with something unique for yer old buddy RdV, Tijuana style. It's my b-day today btw, so I'm curious.

Cakes here are pretty much the same as the states. except for carrot cake I am not much for cake myself. But i do like Trifle which is slices of whiskey/liqueur drizzled sponge or pound cake layered with custard/pudding and whipped cream/non-dairy topping, fruits and/or nuts. it is usually in a glass bowl to show off layers. after it is assembled cover and refrigerate for a couple of hours. just remember the recipe "a trifle of this and a trifle of that"
It's British but don't let that stop you

Damn, that sounds good! I'll pass this along to the girlfriend, she's the desert wizard, well, everything to do with food she's got that Midas touch like you. Even her so called "crap" dishes are fantastic, and she's Welsh.

The dark side of Thanksgiving. I ended up inviting my handyman and his nephew for dinner last night. Lasagna, salad and garlic bread. This was the scene this morning.

Tofu with apple, onion, red pepper, grapes, cinnamon and girofle nails in tajine. Sounds weird but it was delicious indeed
