I am going to be doing summer research at UNM and want to get some riding in while I'm down here. Where are the good places to ride? Any group rides? I am living just north of I-40 near the Coronado Mall and Winrock Shopping Center. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Years ago when I lived in ABQ, the hardcore cyclists often trained on the Sandia Crest Road / Sandia Crest Scenic Highway (From San Antonito up to the crest on the east side of Sandia) about a 4000ft climb up to 10,600. If you are into casual cycling you might want to check out the inner city bike routes at :

Good luck and have fun

Riding in ABQ

Hey Nick

There is a group ride (the Lobo Ride) that gathers Saturday & Sunday at 9AM at the Lobo sculpture on the south side of Johnson Gym, just north of Central & Stanford. There are generally 20-50 people, from racers to more casual riders.

For a more race-oriented ride, *** Hill Velo takes off Saturday & Sunday at 8 AM from the Starbucks on Central & Tulane. There are other teams that do rides, info can be found through http://www.nmcycling.org
