"Human optimization portfolio...push the limits..." Lance is clearly the man for that.

GCN+ to close down in December as race broadcasts move to Discovery+ and Eurosport

"In Europe, GCN+ subscribers will now have the option to subscribe to access Discovery+, Eurosport or Eurosport Extra, where you can continue to watch live cycling. In markets outside of Europe, WBD is reviewing how content is delivered to its fans.
Information for viewers in the USA and other territories around the world served by GCN+ was not yet available.

This really sucks. I had my most foolproof cycling watching setup in my many, many years of watching. In the US, GCN + a VPN was awesome because you get get pretty much every race on the calendar with English commentary for $50/ year at as long as it was broadcast somewhere. Womens races, every cyclocross race, even mtb world cup rounds.

Spot on. It was finally easy and pleasant to watch good quality cycling broadcasts with decent commentators (for the most part) instead of the US clown show.

And getting quality streams of the great early-season races...fantastic. Still seems unclear what will be available on Discovery+. I hope its the same stuff just a new platform, but if it were that simple, they would have announced it for the US.

Flo sports seems to have a grip on cycling in North America. Particularly Canada. Flo’s focus is on half assed coverage of as many fringe sports as possible and you are paying for them all at $150/year. I much preferred to vpn and gcn+. Will look here for suggestions on what works for others.

Jesus… If you thought Peacock was rough, wait til you get a load of Flo. Phil in 15 years at 95 years old with full blown dementia is preferable.

I have Peacock and GCN+ and barely missed a race. Never understood how to work a vpn so the only time I’d venture into murky waters was stuff like Burgos where Flo has North American rights. I’d be open to them more but Peacock and GCN were so much cheaper. It’s difficult to justify spending 25 bucks a month.

Hell I even can stream the VOLTA from their Portuguese app for free. I don’t speak Portuguese so have no idea what they are saying but at least I can watch and understand what’s going on. This sucks.

does anyone in here have Discovery+? is there all the same cycling content on there that's on GCN?

edit: i signed up for the free trial and no, it's not on there. but i did find this, the GB version of Discovery+ has everything that GCN had: https://www.discoveryplus.com/gb/sport/cycling

so I assume all they'll have to do is just make it available to the US version of Discovery+. hopefully that's what happens and this wont be a big deal at all.

USA Discovery+ is showing CX racing now. This gives me hope!
Flobikes sucks and really only have a few races, granted Good Ones like Flanders and Worlds. Their base customer for cycling is Canada.
When they had the Giro and other RCS races and you could pay for just a month whenever you wanted, I used it. But then they went to an annual sub only and no Giro it was an easy decision to drop them.
I really dislike these streaming only platforms. When it's on TV I could record to dvr and dub with dvdr. Then I could watch whatever race I wanted especially during the winter. I have races on dvd from back in the 80s. Youtube just doesn't carry enough and the streaming platforms only retain for a year. I'll never see the 2023 Giro again :(.

Peacock has special running out today. I just found out about it an hour ago. $20 for Premium for a year. I bought it as they usually have both the Tour and Vuelta.
Thanks for the heads-up, I jumped on that deal like there's no tomorrow. Now we'll just have to remind each other to cancel the membership in one year before it auto-renews for $60! :grimacing:
