OK, I'm only starting this because I wanted the juicy on the ban and the Mods gave very dry reasons.

Never knew His GIFness to insult anyone, so I'm just curious!

Its only a temporary ban by the looks of it.

The only reason Daotec appears not to insult everyone is because its pretty much impossible to understand what he is saying most of the time. Once you work out how to decipher his posts you realise he is actually pretty arrogant, condascending, patronising and insulting fairly often Hes been winding up at least one of the mods for about a week or two now.

Over the last month he had made quite a few insulting posts. He had already received about 3 infractions since the start of this year for inappropriate language or insulting other members. This is not even including the posts we just edited without infractions and the informal warnings he had received. Yet he remained posting inappropriate stuff and insulting other members.

Also please do not mention the 'friend' we are still looking into that and it might end up lenghtening his ban

I always respected Daotec's input starting threads on lesser known races - I guess he might have been a bit arrogant but he did seem to know a lot of stuff that no one else could be bothered to source.

But I suppose he never got round to insulting my ignorance! so I guess it's only my wishful thinking to hope his ban - get a Contador treatment?!

No, the ban will stand. He has had more than enough warnings in a short period of time

Im gonna surprise everyone and say he should be allowed back at some point as long as...

He quits with the neverending supply of smileys.
stops being insulting and arrogant
stops creating threads everytime theres a puff of wind
stops stating things as fact with no sources (huschovd to pegasus for instance)
and stops editing his posts when his information proves incorrect (race results for instance) and pretending he never said stuff.

he does provide some very good info, but he can be a right royal pain in the ****.

We have credited him on more than one occasion for the former, whilst doing our best to curb the latter. At times he has been co-operative, but lately he seemed to ignore the flags that indicated that we were starting to lose our patience with him, and he became more and more personal.

Regardless, circumventing a ban is the most stupid action you can take here, even if you feel that you were harshly treated. There will be some aspects of his posting services here, that the mods regret to see go as well, but every regular should know by now what is the really quick way out after you have been reprimanded.

I am always amazed how people's own stupidity can make minor bust-ups much worse for them.

If he had not started posting with the other account he would just have needed to wait a week, but he was too stubborn to do that. He knew what kind of punishment was on that. Even if the permanent ban is deemed a bit too severe he will still need to serve a very lenghty ban. If he had just heeded all the warnings we send him, or even this short ban which was also a hint of sorts of what was expected behaviour here, he would not have been banned. He has had all the chances in the world

If we do it ourselves, we might not make as many mistakes.

His insisting that Safi-Pasta Zara were an American team that were disbanding (rather than an Italian team who were shifting their licence to America) still rankles with me. Even after I read the original article and realised they'd made a mistake which he had duly copied, he was downright insistent that I was wrong and had lost all of his respect because I dared to point out an inaccuracy in his post.

DAOTEC the messenger was a great poster to have around.
DAOTEC the interacter with other people was usually insufferable.

Dao was the craziest dude on this board by a country mile and I will miss his absolutely impenetrable posting style and his eclectic and seemingly nonsensical use of smilies.

The way he hyped up Colombians, especially in the TOur de la avenir, and broke into spanish occasionaly with "amigos" and "DAOTEC no habla ingles" i think he was from cyclings latin amercian homeland.
