I think Millar confessed usage of EPO prior to 2004 only on rare occasions. For example he claimed that he finished clean 6" off Ullrich in the 2001 ITT WC (but beating Botero, Leipheimer, Hoste, Bodrogi, Gonzalez).
Before 2004 he was the star rider on the road for the UK team and developped a special bound with Brailsford. However he sometimes used EPO while racing for the "honest" UK cycling team manager.
Gaumont was arrested in January 2004 and Millar only in June that year. During that 5 month span he was always supported by Brailsford in spite of the accusations made by Gaumont. Brailsford was having a casual lunch with Millar when busted by the French cops.
So as Millar lies and supports dopers, UK cycling top man, the guy with a huge IQ, is a) extremely naïve when it comes to doping, b) lying and covering dopers as well

For a so called clean rider, Millar sure does support doped riders an awful lot. Either he's a coward or a liar

Or both. Millar seems to pass himself off as the prodigal son of anti doping. He was caught and one would assume by his own words that he had to suffer through a dark time in his life (Ex: his book, racing through the dark, etc.). But returned to the sport in the supposed "clean team." And now has turned his back on his doping past and is riding for clean cycling.

The reality seems to be he's just like everyone else that preaches how the peloton is now clean, another keeper of Omerta.

‏@Catwhoorg
#MillarTime How intrusive is OOC testing? How often over a year, how is the split between blood and urine tests ?

‏@Sharp_Europe
@Catwhoorg Once you accept it as part of your life & job & understand the application of the whereabouts system it's not so bad.

Not really answering with any details. Maybe my fault for the little softball preamble giving an easy out.

Millar's selective admission to use of EPO is a complete joke. He claims he won the prologue on his first tour in 2000 clean.

Millar's special friend

When St David was first released after the bust, he was interviewed by fawning journos who asked him nice soft questions. Not one of them stopped to even think when St David said that he was very much heartened by so many calls of support he had from throughout his friends in the peloton. He named one rider in particular who had spoken to him - he had received a very encouraging call from his very good friend Lance.

You can't make this up. They just despise all the fans.

Yes they do. I saw it first hand after a stage of TA where riders refused to come out of their buses and sign autographs for young kids.

They've got to get the drug taking scenes right. That's why Millar is helping out.

It's people like Millar who make me believe, that the only thing to do with those caught doping his banned for life.

Bans for life is the way to go.

I prefer Graeme de Bruijn over the meretricious soul David Millar.

even his smack downs are more authentic. If de Bruijn wants to diss you he just gives you a mouthfull of asphalt.

Millar's smackdown is weakwilled pr speak thru a burson marsteller filter. soft, so soft. very cambridge public schoolboy boarder oscar wilde love doth not speak.

This has me thinking. So if you're Dave Brailsford, and you're committed to clean cycling (use your imagination) and you're with Millar when he gets arrested, isn't this a guy who has betrayed your trust and damaged your own reputation?

Funny then that later on Brailsford would campaign for Millar to be allowed to ride for him in the Olympics, and on top of that, be employing Millar's sister in a sham PR job (that she seems incredibly bad at). Keeping Millar quiet?

In fact Brailsford has been involved in doping throughout and the British track success comes from the needle.

From memory, DB was happy to have Millar in Team Sky, despite Millar owning part of Team Garmin (and being a doper).

It was Sky mgt (ie the businesses, not the team per se) who nixed that plan.

On track you can dope trackside. Who gives a F. Like is anyone watching? Belgium 6-day events the riders and wolfing down their 'sharpeners" with a beer from he crowd. Slight embellishment, yes.

What I mean is, who actually watches track? Outside Olympics & WCs? Dope free, you can prep like an East German athlete in the 80's!

Veinsford is now feeling the heat because the French journalists know the difference between a v02ax, FTP and W/p.kg.

The UK journalists are just getting their heads around the washing hands and pillow case theorem and currently at the point that it's real and significant.

And David Walsh with Brailsford has become Mills & Boone.

A love story.

is better at Garmin.

Anti-doping as sham, carving out their team bloc in the peloton.

i prefer the italians take on the boulder team's PR - those Garmin @rseholes

Millar is so anti doping that he wears the names some of the biggest chargers on his shoes tomorrow to honour them.

Millar what a hypocrite.

I'm in favour of 1 year stop to all the races and a brainwash for all the riders. so we can start again. Nibali, Millar and Phinney will be the first guinea-pigs for the brainwash (Taylor's still young, he MUST forget Merckx and Lance before it gets too late...)
