So possibly rainy final just like the E3. If the rain moves up a bit (to earlier in the afternoon) we actually might get a full wet edition, but for now most rain is expected after the finish.

Weird feelings. I don't think I will watch from the beginning. I am a moderate fan of MvdP, but this time I somehow don't care much. Think it has to do with the lack of suspense regarding lack of contenders. I will go for a long ride in the morning instead. Amsterdam area may be blessed with some sunshine in the morning :)

This race will either be a boring MVDP parade, or a super interesting tactical chaos. I don't really see anything in between, which would be a natural selection of a group of the strongest riders battling it out.
I was going to post almost the same thing.

Either a foregone conclusion (or at least appearing to be), or utter chaos. Like many, I would definitely prefer the latter.

I am a VDP fan, but I have seldom been impressed with Alpecin's tactical skills. We saw that again last week when they did not stop VDP from riding behind Milan. I am curious if they have learned from this and if their tactics will make sense this time.

But this also applies to other teams. When VDP attacks early, just don't respond. He is not going to pull off an 80 km solo like Pogacar. I don't believe that. Everytime they react to VdP early in the race, they are playing to his strengths.

In other words, I expect tactical chaos. I. think Jorgensen can make his (already epic) season start even better. It will be him or VDP.

MVDP and Alpecin may not be tactical masters, but I think they generally have got things right at Flanders.

Crazy just how much MvdP's competition was decimated this week. But it's really reaching a point where I wonder if there won't be too much focus on him. Despite how strong he is van der Poel never really got the Sagan treatment at this race. This time he's gonna get the Sagan treatment and then some.

De Ronde van Vlaanderen is, since my childhood, one of the days in a year I look most forward to.

However. Since Wednesday, that desire got a huge blow. I think it's almost similar to when Greg broke his collarbone in 2016 and Sagan almost had a free pass, but that incident happened during the race itself. Boonen's absence was also horrible for me, but the crash with Van Aert & co is an even bigger setback to the suspense in general.

I really hope we will get an open race with a lot of attacks and outsiders going all out, so either the big favourite will have to do the ride of his life, or we get a big surprise.

The suspese didnt change much and its the same but thats due to when pogacar is not here VDP is so much better than anyone else. I dont think anyone thought wva could beat vdp bearing any missfortunes on vdp's part or the race turning into some tactical chaos race. Which it still can.

Pedersen nr 3 last year is on the start, i wonder how banged up or good to go he is? Hes on really good form. Bettiol seems to be flying too. Flandern is always bound to something happen, epic race.

Wrong, to be honest. Wout always flies a week or 2 after altitude, and Visma and Lidl had the firepower to do MvdP some real harm. Of course Mathieu was the biggest favourite, but what you are saying just isn't true.

The problem is that he can just drop the others and ride home alone. Sagan wasn't good enough to do that from far out.

All it would do was help vdp even more. You dont seem to understand, the harder the race becomes the more superior he becomes. That Wva dont race flandern makes it harder for Vdp to win. Noone in 2024 think Wva would stand a chance bearing any missfortunes or as i said tactical chaos scenario then they could win - but that remains for so many other riders too bettiol, pedersen etc etc.

Pogacar on the other hand would stick it to him he can match if not outclass - thats the real suspense! Not if Wva for the 100time trying to beat vdp with the same outcom everytime. So its most definetely true.

You believe Wva would outpower Vdp suddenly? bearing any chrashes or tactical chaos events, not even barely close to doing so as we've seen every time he tried. Wva is pretty evenly matched with Bettiol on form and Pedersen when it comes to pure strenght, thats just the reality. In fact Pedersen beat Wva in Flandern last year.

The suspense got all to do with Vdp simply being so much better then anyone else not named Pogacar surely you cant seem to think thats not true, then i wonder if your even watched any monuments or flandern last years.

im not *** posting im simply saying the suspense wouldnt change with wva beeing here. I dont think anyone think he would beat vdp bearing any missfortunes surely thats not controversial to say when hes not been remotely close before.

If Pogacar was here on the other hand that would be something entirely different.
