Hello guys,
Just wanted to say that i am so disappointed by the new website... as many of you
Just a question : where is the UCI calendar ? Where can we find it ? And where are all the texts, photos and results of the Dauphiné Libéré, which ended... last week ?
Navigation is so hard : when you watch the results of a race, it's hard to find the photo gallery linked, to find even the race's profile !

It's true that the former version of CN was old and needed a relooking, but not this way... it's such a catastrophy...

Hope that the owners of the site will realize how they are wrong to keep going with this new version.

(sorry for my English I'm French)

Very sad that the old format has gone

One bad point already was that the fitness "letters" had been moved to the forum.
Now the new format : the old format was much easier to deal with.

Shall I have to find a new cycling site ? English is not my mother tongue.

I agree, the fitness section was great, I want to know how the forum is supposed to be better:confused:

Definitely a bunch of amateurs running Future Media.

The only reason to register

Yes, this is bad, about the worst re-design I have seen. The only optimism I have is that another site will come about because this one is so obviously flawed... whoever is responsible for this 'redesign' could not hit water if they fell out of a boat.

How do you create a poll?

I'd like to create a poll myself. Is there a tutorial or a help section that will help me out? Thanks! BTW, I didn't join the forum because the new site was bad, but if I hadn't, I would have! :)

Back and forth

I hate the fact that i have to go back and forth to see the headlines. the old site allowed a reader to see all the headlines of the day on one page. who thought up this ridiculous design?

I just wanted to add my agreement that the new site design is not good. Until they change it back to the old design or actually make it better than the old one I will not be coming back and will gladly visit other cycling websites.

feels like I've lost a family member

Cyclingnews was my homepage for the last 3 years, checked it all the time, loved the easy layout and navigation, I could find the "live report" and read it and not see who won in the headlines. The text was perfect etc. Cyclingnews was my virtual home and was Cycling for me.

The new site is difficult to read etc etc...what everyone else said.

I feel like I've lost a family member, not sure what to do or where to go. It is like waking up in the morning only to find you are in a depressing new house in an unwelcoming new city, a very terrible feeling.

I will be looking for a new home page and, sad to say to all the advertisers out there, won't be frequenting this site any longer.

New website a BIG mistake

The new website is horrible. Losing a unique website to create a clone of BikeRadar is a real loss. I don't look at Cyclingneews now and it's advertisers are going to lose money because it isn't as good.

I particularly dislike the editor attempting to sell the idea that the change was for the benefit of the reader. This is a consolidation of 2 sites and a bad mistake in the long run for the readers and the advertisers. I am confident someone made money selling out Cyclingnews. I wonder who got the money? I'm sad to lose my favorite source of cycling news.

New website design is cynical

The website is horrible now. Losing a unique website to make a clone of BikeRadar isn't for the benefit of the reader, it's an economic decision . The editor selling his idea it's an improvement is patronizing and galling.

The readers and ultimately the advertisers are losing out. it's stupid.

Yes.

I've been coming to this site since 2000 and I am very disapointed at the changes. The old version was a great example of what a website should be ie a place to get information easily. I am not against change at all but the new version seems to have systematically removed anything that was good about the old one and replaced it with a clone of bikeradar, which by the way is an even crappier website.

I will sadly be removing it from my list of favourites, checking in from time to time to see if its improved.

Been visiting this site since about 2000, first thing I always did when I went on the web but hardly been on since the changes. It's too slow, too much going on on the home page, there doesn't seem to be any format I could go on but everything i hate about this site has already been said.
I've just registered just so I can register my upset at the changes of what was once the best site on the .net.
I've left it this long to register because since the changes the site is so slow I just couldn't be bothered to look round the site to give it a go but I'm missing the old site and le' tour is coming up exciting times but think I'll be following it on another site.
PLEASE change the web site back!

Not much of a future for "Future Publishing Limited"

...if they continue to display their incompetence with site overhauls such as this. This is as bad as everyone says it is. The CSS, the UI, all of it. It might be easier to manage from the back-end, but what good does it do to alienate the front-end reader?

CyclingNews V2.0 - Dreadful

Up until very recently there has never been a topic that has motivated me to post on the forum. That changed with the recent 'improvements' to the CyclingNews website.
Why? If i want to read Bike Radar i go to Bike Radar.
Remember when Coca-cola decided to force a change of flavour upon their customers in the 80's, disaster!

Congratualtions, you've just managed to lose an avid reader and fan. I hope you're pleased with your work!

First thing I always did when I switched on my laptop in the morning was checking Cyclingnews.com because it was quick to scan, informative, instrumental, relevant. Now it's a disappointment every time I look at it. Sorry guys but it's rubbish from a lot of perspectives. Now I wil have to go look somewhere else to get me going first thing in the morning. I guess you lost me

Yet another junky flash site.

Guys,

Why did you have to get greedy and "FIX" what wasn't broken? I enjoyed cyclingnews.com for years due to the speed and easy access to cycling coverage. This new site is exactly the polar opposite of why I came here in the first place. As I write this I'm being inundated with an onslaught of flash animated crap for "Felt" bicycles. The same ad displaying over and over again in two different windows.(I feel like I'm in Las Vegas staring at a wall of slot machines or something!)Ugh. I know it won't happen but pretty please bring back the old site and get rid of this mess! I'm sorry to say it but you guys just went from first to last for cycling news. Sad it see this happen.

This is my first and probably last post to this site.

Disgruntled

Who decided this was an improvement ? So much slower it is painful....
Like so many others on here I used to visit at least twice per day......

Like so many others now won't and will look elsewhere for easy access to results.

And why is it OK for a video advert obscure to obscure a block of text ?

terrible re-design

only joined forum to register my disappointment over the new design. Probably won't bother visiting as much. Too disjointed, unorganized, difficult to read. Old site gave me everything in an organized and coherent structure.

I am out of here

Yes, the only reason I joined was to complain about the "new" piece of crap web site.

I just can not believe this is happening...that this happened...I just can not believe it.

I am out of here.

They (whoever "they" are) can put this new web site where the sun does not shine.

The old site was something I grew to love. It was great. I probably put several thousand hits on it every year. This new site sucks.

I am out of here. "They" can have it. Keep it. Shove it.

15yrs of following cyclingnews - no more :-(

I remember back in 1993 or 1994 following major races and reading up on 'exotic' european news all the way from Oz, via dial-up on a 2400 baud modem, when I could read faster than the page would load.

Since then I have always enjoyed cyclingnews, and visited the site pretty much daily, or more often, as the format was quick and easy, it loaded super-fast, I could always find the info I wanted straight away, and if I wanted to find old race results or pictures of bikes etc from previous specific events etc, it was always do-able.

Now it's gone backwards and is so clunky to the point I probably could out-read the info that comes up on screen. I can't find anything I want. I detest the new site. I thought after a couple of days I'd get used to it and find what I wanted. But no! It took me about 6 goes just to be able to register this forum logon, just so I could express my opinion.

The editorial content and quality has been slipping over the past year, and for me the site redesign is the final straw. There's nothing for me here now.

Goodbye, cyclingnews.
