http://www.expressen.se/sport/friidrott/adil-bouafif-talar-ut-jag-ar-oskyldig/

Some strange stories from Swedish long distance runner Adil Bouafif:

In four days he was forced to submit a total of eleven different doping samples, he said. Both the blood and urine.

On one occasion, after the 10.000-meter race August 13, the testers didn't leave him until 0100 in the night.

- I had to submit six urine samples that evening.

- I suspect it has either been some error in the analysis of samples, or that they simply have confused my samples with someone else. Either that, or I've got high blood values by I ate supplements in combination with altitude training.

The tests show high blood values?

- Yes.

He also claims he doesn't know what substance he has tested positive for (after the B sample has been tested) and says :

I honestly have not seen any paper where EPO has been mentioned. But I've also heard rumors that people talk about EPO.

Russian athletes (athletics) recognized ineligible
January 30, 2015

Russian Anti-Doping Agency "RUSADA" rendered a decision that made Julia Zaripova ineligible for the anti-doping rule violation (art.2.2 Use of prohibited substance and (or) a prohibited method) for 2 years and 6 months from 25 of July 2013 with the disqualification of the results for the periods: 20 June 2011 - 20 August 2011 and 3 July 2012 - 3 September 2012 upon a decision of the Disciplinary Anti-doping Committee. The doping rules violations have been detected on the basis of abnormal parameters of the athletes? hematological profiles within the framework of of the Biological Passport Program of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Also, Russian Anti-Doping Agency "RUSADA" rendered a decision that made Tatyana Chernova ineligible for the anti-doping rule violation, (Presence of prohibited substance in athlete's sample), collected at the World Cup 2009 in Berlin upon a decision of the Disciplinary Anti-doping Committee. At the request of IAAF in 2013 the repeated analysis of sample was carried out by the laboratory accredited by WADA in Cologne. The anabolic steroid was found in athlete's sample, Chernova Tatyana is suspended for two years, from 22 July 2013 with the disqualification of the results for the period: 15 August 2009 - 14 August 2011.

8 more Kenyans were given bans. But it's not clear to me whether they're (partly) new cases, or athletes (!6) that earlier escaped their bans by making themselves scarce.

Are Kenyans jumping on the bandwagon, getting stupid in their doping, or being caught by a truly incorruptible anti-doping organization?

The bulk of the Kenyan bans announced by IAAF in January seems to belong in the escaped the bans by making themselves scarce category. 3 of the positives are from 2012, one from 2013 and 3 from January 2014. All the positives are from races outside Kenya, so not tested by Athletics Kenya. And they are postive for steroids, Norandrosterone to be spesific.

http://www.iaaf.org/download/downlo...n Anti-Doping Rule Violation under IAAF Rules

IAAF sent out a letter in June to organizers warning for them and other banned runners:

http://aimsworldrunning.org/documents/AIMS_Anti-dopingAdvisory25062014.pdf

There are money to be made from winning smaller marathons too. As long as the testing is slack enough there is little risk. Three of the positives are from Media Marat?n BAM Max Tott' 2014 in Guatemala. The organizers announced to the local press that they would test the winners of the elite categories. Maybe the Kenyans didn't read the right websites/papers.

"Russian child athletes are doping at school"

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/feb/03/russian-child-athletes-doping-school-sports-minister

Russian child athletes are taking banned substances while still at school, the country's sports minister Vitaly Mutko has claimed.

With Russia enduring doping scandals for months, Mutko vowed to crack down on doping among child athletes, which he suggested was the result of a system where youth coaches can be paid sizeable bonuses when young athletes win competitions.
It's the taking part - not!

Another Welsh rugby player banned for attempted use of HGH

(link)

3 years 3 months (proceeded under the 2014 code), aggravating circumstances were changing his story and lying after an initial admission.

UK Border Force again leads the way to get evidence for a doping conviction.

interesting.
The gist of the allegation is that Mr Kendall ordered a consignment of HGH on the internet from a Hong Kong based company, intending to use it himself.
...
Mr Kendall is a 38 year old rugby player
...
He has not played rugby at a high level and in recent years has played only occasionally for teams in the lower divisions of the Welsh National League. He works nights as a doorman in a Cardiff night club.
...
On 8 June 2014, the UK Border Force seized a consignment of HGH in a package addressed to ?Mr A. Kendall? at the Athlete?s home address in South Wales.
small fry.

Small fry indeed.

About as sensible as me doping to win an parents egg and spoon race at my daughters daycare.

But good to know UK Border Force is ontop of those HGH shipments from Hong Kong. (There was another case from a different HK based supplier posted late last year, also rugby).

Maybe that's the message being sent ?

Jones was not QDed from UFC 182 because at the same time NSAC presented UFC with his test results, they also opined that they had overstepped their bounds in testing for cocaine, because they only are chartered (by the UFC) to administer up to WADA standards, and the WADA protocol does not include OOC testing for recreational drugs.

Both of the headliners at UFC 183 failed drug tests. One tested positive for two AASes. The other tested positive for cannabinoids. Guess which fighter won the judges' decision?

The UFC is owned by Zuffa enterprises. Zuffa enterprises is two rich kids, the Fertitta brothers, playing with Dad's money. Dad, an entrepreneur and casino owner, died four years ago. Which, for the Fertitta boys, is a good thing, because they no longer have to answer to Dad's margin call. And it's a bad thing, because Dad is no longer there to cover the boy's markers when they're on a losing streak.

The UFC is on a losing streak. And strapped for cash. The last UFC that did a million PPVs was UFC 100, in 2009. Last year, Zuffa's profits were off by 40% because the UFC did so poorly. The UFC did so poorly because too many top fighters got injured, too many top fighters got popped for PEDs, and one headliner missed a title fight because he got lightheaded during a routine weight cut, fell, and cracked his noggin. Which left a flyweight title match as that night's headline attraction, and the flyweights just got no gate.

The UFC's biggest PPV of 2014 barely broke 300,000. The two biggest PPVs of 2014 (including the 300,000 viewer event) both featured Rhonda Rousey. The only three truly bankable stars the UFC has under contract at the moment are Jon "Bones" Jones, Rhonda Rousey and Anderson "Spider" Silva. Although Jones fought in UFC 182, that was after a several month injury lay-off, and most of a year since his most recent title defence. Rousey is losing her lustre because she already has run through all the credible competition UFC can round up for her, only one of whom managed to last a full round, and they've begun accepting applications from the Russian Women's penitentiary league. Silva, probably the MMA fighter mentioned most often as the 'greatest of all time,' was out for the whole of 2014 because he broke his tibia and fibula across the shin of Chris Weidman in a fight in December of 2013.

And the UFC is strapped for cash and 183 was to be Silva's come-back from a gruesome leg injury. The full numbers aren't yet tallied but early indications are it could have bested a million PPVs. And that's why the UFC let the fight go on.

message sent by whom?
UKAD is sending the message "look at us doing the right thing" by busting a 38 year old doorman.
Meanwhile UKAD tolerate doping on the highest level.

Dealer? 80 vials, well, yes, could be he was going to (try and) sell it.
But then why is the case on UKAD's plate? Wouldn't it be a criminal offense?

Border Force passed the information to UKAD, who asked the WRU about the athletic status of the recipient.

As for why it isn't a criminal offense, possibly may be due to the burden of proof being lower here. One could be pending, we simply don't get that sort of information.

The dealer angle didn't occur to me, not sure how much HGH you take in a shot.

1.5Kg certainly seems like it could be enough to be a dealer.

4 IU per day is usually used by athletes for bodybuilding, fat loss and general fitness. Some people take 6IU per day, however the higher the dose the more annoying the side effects can be.
1 mg equals approximately 3 IU while 1 IU equals approximately 0.33 mg.

btw, odd formulation here:
We are satisfied that Mr Simpson also told Mr Kendall, mistakenly, that the substance seized had been tested and found to be HGH.
satisfied that Simpson, representing UKAD, made a mistake?

That's got to be a dealer...
exactly.

i assume smaller quantities for individual usage are less likely to get fished out by UK Border Force.
Also makes me wonder: have UKAD offered the doorman sentence reduction in return for info on his buyers?

I doubt that these days any top professional athlete is going to buy their dope from a doorman, so I really wouldn't expect any names to come from it. The rugby thing is a red herring too probably, everyone plays rugby in Wales and it sounds like he plays in the seniors of the junior leagues I used to play in which really aren't that good. Almost certain he's dealing around whatever gyms he frequents though.

Almost certainly.
IF he shops enough folks, then the ban would be reduced.

But at 38 years old, and a low level club player I don't see that as a major incentive for him.

Offering help with any criminal charges would be more of a motivation.

Hysterical

South Korean prosecutors on Friday announced charges against a doctor for giving Olympic swim star Park Tae-Hwan an injection without disclosing it contained the banned steroid testosterone.

The 24-year-old four-time Olympic medallist blamed the injection - administered last July - for a positive drug test on urine samples he provided in September, before the Asian Games.

According to the Chosun Ilbo daily, Park received the injection as part of an "anti-ageing" procedure he had been offered for free.
