Apparently xavier hernandez said that bayern were "mentally strong, physically extraordinary".

When Catalunya Postal are saying impressed by your physicality, its probably not pan y agua.

We probably wont see any football docs in cycling anytime soon, not enough money, but maybe Sky could find one and afford it.

The Germans have been known to physical (height plays a factor) and strong, just like they have always been known to be extremely fit. They have always worked hard on their fitness and discipline. None of this is new, they have been doing this for decades.

Bayern's recent form has is not exactly surprising. Just like Barcelona, they are a team of superstars. They fairly convincingly beat Real Madrid in last years Semi and they should have won last years final. This will be their 3rd Champions League final in 4 years. I would say pan y agua very likely.

Winning in a penalty shootout is hardly convincing ;) But I agree with the rest, what they are doing now is not surprising to anyone who has watched them over the last few years.
And the fact that Barcelona got hammered, it was bound to happen at some point, it always does, even to the greatest teams.

You are new to this doping thing?

You are talking as if doping was something lazy people who dont want to train do.

Everyone works hard on their fitness. We know barca are doped. Dope + training hard >>>>>>> just training hard.

So when barca claim a team is significantly physically superior to them, its hard to believe bayern just happen to have chanced upon 12 Jesse Owens.

Not to mention bayern are hiring for their team manager next year a guy who was caught doping as a player.

If you also believe SKY is clean, then this post will make sense. SKY is probably as clean as Bayern...

It have been posted also in the thread start I believe, but anyway; I would suggest reading this to get a bit insight in football doping: http://www.4dfoot.com/2013/02/09/doping-in-football-fifty-years-of-evidence/

Bayern has one of the wackiest/dodgiest doctors in all of sports, Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt.

Here is the intro to his wikipedia page

Wikipedia said:
Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt (born 12 August 1942 in Leerhafe, today part of Wittmund, East Frisia) is the club doctor at Bayern Munich and is a world leader in the treatment of sports injuries.

Many of the German doctor's treatments are controversial, including using injections of a substance called Hyalart extracted from the crest of cockerels, which is claimed to help lubricate knee injuries and take away the pain. He has also injected honey or calves' blood into patients.

Müller-Wohlfahrt's use of homeopathic medicine to treat players is also controversial.

There where all sorts of conflicts and accusations flying around between Bayern and the Dutch National Federation over Arjen Robben during and after the 2010 world cup. He was supposedly (according to Bayern) heavily injured, and yet managed to play nearly every game up to and including the final. Afterwards Bayern kept him sidelined for several months, even-though the player claimed to be totally fit and uninjured.

There was never any clear explanation in the press, only vague accusations from both sides. It was all very dodgy.

I wonder if Fergie's retirement was before the big doping scandal hits the premier league and taints his legacy.

No Im being serious, the article a couple of pages back highlights the difference between the attitudes to doping of the two coaches.

That was a great article by Tom English.

Still, I don't think it has anything got to do with any doping story. It has been said that if Aguero didn't get the last minute winner against QPR then Ferguson would have retired last year. The Daily Mail reported at least 2 managers in the Premier League have said this would have happened if this did indeed occur. We also have Dave Whelan, the Wigan Chairman(friends with Ferguson) saying months back that he was nearly certain he would retire at the end of the season. I'm sure Ferguson would have liked to have won the European Cup once again but it's better to go out on the high now after winning the League back from City. Mourinho will be back at Chelsea with big plans and City won't make the same transfer mistakes as last summer and if one of them won the league again next year and the year after, then Ferguson would have wanted to carry on and on and his retirement would never come. He was always going to announce this quickly and not make the same mistake in 2002 when Arsenal won the double and he announced it early that season. A quick announcement near the end of the season was always going to be on the cards. He's also getting a hip replacement in August and last year had nose bleeds which United's medical staff said was the result of too many short distance flights in a short time frame. Better to leave now and not let the stresses of the job effect his health in a deteriorating way.

Nothing got to do with doping.

When I said "I'm being serious" it was referring to the fact that a big doping story is sure to rock world football/soccer at some point in the future, not that those were Ferguson's motivations for retiring.

I'm sure Ferguson has a Lance esque confidence that he won't get punished for any of his misdeeds.

I would suggest that The Netherlands needed him more than Bayern. Bayern had/have plenty more talent than the Dutch National team. Being 80% fit is good enough to get Arjjen Robben into the Netherlands starting lineup, but it will not be good enough to make Bayern's starting team. In any case, Arjjen Robben is apparently surplus to requirements at Bayern. They don't really consider him part of their core group of players and he will be sold in the off season. Pep Guardiola wants him out.

Admittedly, Arjjen did have a good CL Semi Final in both games, but he is generally too much of a hog and show pony to be effective as a great 'team player'.

Correct, in which the Dutch football players react really angrily and say WOW THEY SHOULDVE BEEN PUNISHED IT WAS UNFAIR and saying Ajax had a deficit, but for sure Ajax hasnt been squeaky clean either with Stam, De Boer testing positive in Italy.

Us Dutch probably playing the "holier than thou" attitude.

NOS in Holland have a show next week about Juventus's doping in the 90's and how they doped for the Champions League final against Ajax in 1996.

My Dutch is non-existant but Giuseppe D'Onofrio speaks in English in the first video where he said the blood values at the time were anything but normal and which signalled EPO use.

http://www.nrc.nl/nieuws/2013/05/21...n-96/?utm_campaign=rss&utm_source=syndication

Thanks for posting.

In the part where Giuseppe D'Onfrio is going through the graph he's charting the Haematocrit values from February to May is that for the team as a whole or one player?

It says by May the Haematocrit on the graph is over 50 if that refers to the team as a whole that suggests a very high level of doping.

I remember reading on here, I can't remember where that Didier Deschamps (who was a member of that Juventus team) was once tested with a Haematocrit of 55.
