Its pretty hillarious that noone ever tests positive in football. They should at least have some ukrainians test positive once in a while to make it look a bit more real.

But at least talent is still the most important thing I would guess. Not like cycling where nobodies can become the best in the world.

So a former Chelsea and Barcelona player didnt fail a test recently

Those of us who are old enough will also remember the worlds top player testing positive at the world cup finals

Doing a little more research into the Parma scandal, I've found that every player except Fabio Cannavaro that was in the first team for the 1996-97 season came under suspicion for EPO use. Spectacular. That's added a good 20 odd names to the list.

I've duplicated the spreadsheet. This is the uneditable master list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...al9ZaWE3amdKLWJLVEFpY1djd0E&usp=sharing#gid=0

And here's the one anybody can edit (send me a PM or post here if you add something. so I can update the master list):

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlOaeNXLgkPodDR1TWNwRjltU2gwQTdrV1FqRFdDNnc&usp=sharing

lol, and cannvaro was the one who got caught on film doping, so we know he wasn't clean either. lol. Football is such a joke.

Cannavaro used neoton in the video which wasn't banned. World Soccer had an article on doping last year pointing this out. That's a very good link above by the way..

One interesting name there is Dani Carvalho who was a very good player at CSKA Moscow. He said there was doping going on there only to retract his comments later.

6 tests in a year qualifies Philipp Lahm as about as clean as they come in football. Compare that to Rabobank 2009 where the lowest number of tests for a rider was 5 for Pedro Horrillo, who spent most of the season in hospital, and the highest was 42 for Denis Menchov.

Using Athletic Bilbao as a comparative exercise as they post who on their team has been tested and when on the website, I can say that this makes Lahm three times as well tested as the most tested Athletic Club players.

http://www.athletic-club.net/web/main.asp?a=0&b=1&c=2&d=1000&berria=12796&idi=1

This means key players in the squad like Gorka Iraizoz, Fernando Amorebieta, Iker Muniain and Ander Herrera played the whole season without a test.

The FA's figures for testing in England.

That's for all levels of the professional game in England. The 92 clubs between the football league and Premiership. Lots of non-league clubs the division below that are professional as well.

so home field advantage in football is really just doping advantage? easier to "prepare" for the games I would guess.

indeed i've always thought this to be the case.
for some teams the difference in stamina is striking between a home game and an away game.
of course other factors also play a role (the journey of course), but i think having your own equipment and set-up at hand really is what makes home advantage a home advantage.
It's a matter of logistics. You simply can't bring along 15 centrifuges to every away-game.

There's been a 'home team advantage' going back to the days when pro footballers smoked a couple of packs of woodbines per day & drank like fish.

true story.

of course there's a whole series of (some more, some less tangible) factors one might look at when assessing what 'home advantage' really entails, but i think the ease of lastminute ped-administration might well be one such factor, especially in this day and age.

An interesting piece today(in french) on the use of anti-inflammatory drugs in football.

http://www.rue89.com/rue89-sport/20...les-pilules-rassurent-les-footballeurs-246202

tip of the iceberg stuff.
am I getting it right that none of the stuff talked about in the artilce is actually illegal? not even cortisone?

but interesting piece, yes, while investigative.
danny mills' testimony particularly interesting, as he once more sketches the 'don't ask, just take it' mentality amongst football players.

i didn't get the part about nadal at the end.

Just caught up on this story from a few days back where the French press accused Fabrizio Ravenelli(now manager at Ajaccio in France) of giving his players banned supplements.

LOL : The white feather says

. I have never failed thousands of checks

Thats more than Lance:D

In his defense he says

I am an athlete, I have a healthy life, I ride a bicycle
