Cav didn't come in with any expectation because of all the time he missed last year so will probably do better as the race goes on and towards the end of Feb. as he gets more racing miles.

Being his fan, I of course want him to win everything but that won't be for awhile.

W/hat was Viviani doing there trying to get through on the inside? Probably cost himself a win; there was never going to be enough space.

He didn't have a choice. His team kept him on the barriers. The Quickstep 3 and 4 guys put Viviani in a good spot, but Sabatini was too slow to take up his lead out, and too slow when he actually did. By then everyone else was going by on his left.

Katusha did an awesome job IMO. Did kittel get a mechanical or something?
And where was Cav?
Great sprint by Dylan and Elia.
Yeah Kittel had a mechanical. Cav i don't know what was his problem...

Cav bitching and moaning per usual... http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/mark-cavendish-frustrated-after-sketchy-and-chaotic-dubai-tour-sprint/
"It was just pretty chaotic in the finale, it was carnage. I was terrified for my life," he said.
He's usually incredible in chaotic sprints. What he cant win with Watts he wins by tactics.
Looks like TdF crash is haunting him. Probably lack of form too.

"I wasn't fighting to get on a wheel, I was fighting to dodge guys who were turning left across the peloton. The UCI ruled over the winter that it's alright to cut across the peloton, so I guess everyone is doing it now…"

Still butthurt as ***.

Go red team!

Who has the best chance of the sprinters on the "micro-Mur"?

It's only really a 200 metre effort on steep gradients.
Degenkolb has won here on Hata Dam before but both Kittel and Groenewegen has a good chance of winning as well.

I hope I am wrong but I would be staggered if Kittel won at Hatta Dam. Yes it's only a 200 metre effort but his size rules him out I would think. If he is within 6 seconds of the winner he will have done well.

He was 6th a few year ago, 4 second behind the winner.

thats alot of red, 4 diff teams their i count who blend in

I actually see Bahrein, Katusha, Rally, Cofidis and slightly less red but(t) BMC as well.. How on earth la that even doable legally speaking?

Besides that, Im amazed by Cort Nielsens sprint. Following the guy since 2016 but had a terrible 2017 at Orica. Glad he could be back for good. Expect a nice place at Hatta Dam!

EDIT: I even forgot Trek ffs

Cort never had a terrible 2017. Won one or two early sprints, was disappointing in the classics, broke his collarbone in Yorkshire and spent the rest of the season as a support, except for the Tour of Guangxi.
