On twitter so it must be true!

I think most of us expected it after the failure to announce anything at the Tour.
Yeah, that was an ominous sign.

Now that @RaceRadio has tweeted it - does it make it more true? :D

EDIT: Now the counter tweets are coming. Wait for the dust to settle I guess :D

HTC about to announce at Poland that all riders are free for next season (according to Twitter). Game over?

Could you Green Edgers try not dancing around the corpse before it is even a corpse? It is like those d-bags who hope riders crash.

Wow this could be like a feeding frenzy if they have gone toes up..

Brammier could do a job for somebody, Danny Pate is far too good for a US pro conti team- maybe Sky or back to Garmin,Lars Bak like wise.

Youve got to wonder how much of this is the Lance effect. American sponsors not wanting to get involved in cycling after all the controversy

I think you have to wonder how hard Stapelton tried. Riis was able to find sponsorship in a country the size of a small U.S. state.

A nervous Vaughters will be coming out with a new ten point plan for cycling any day now.

I think you are confusing the Hater Effect with the Lance Effect.

For the Lance Effect - check out Nissan/Radioshack/MichUltra/Etc/Etc.
Pumping moola into cycling coverage and cycling sponsorship.

HTC is the old T-mobile Team.
Suffering from the Hate once again sigh.

Um, where was my opinion displayed in that post? Apart from one comment at the end questioning whether it is all over for them, it was just a further statement of a rumour that is going around which is on this topic. If you think there was any dancing on graves then you are deluded but hey, you're probably in the same group of ignorant people who slam GE as "another Pegasus".

You have practically been unable to contain your glee as you hope they die so that Greenedge can get HTC's World Tour license.

I'm forever hopefull so could it be a case of "Team HTC/Highroad comes to an end at the end of this season so all riders are free to sign with whoever they like OR can sign with the new team xxxx/Highroad as of next year", I take it their contracts are with HTC/Highroad and would be required to sign new contracts effectively with the new team.

Just don't want to see them end.

Has Stapleton said anything about why he won't just fund it privately again? I've read he's a billionaire countless times, so surely that would've been possible.

Ah maybe not, I've seen that he sold his company to Deutsche Telekom for $50billion, but Google says he is only worth $80million.

If it's just a new sponsor they would not need to sign a new contract. Their contracts should be with High Road Sports. I would think that it would be the same if there were a merger, such as the rumoured possibility of a United Healthcare merger since the merger would probably include a transfer of the contracts. (But see Omega Pharma and Phillip Gilbert)

Funny, because Stapleton has just said that Armstrong and Contador came up in every single conversation with sponsors.

Thanks a bunch lance. This is your ****ing legacy.

Did he? Can you give me a link? Or tell me where I might find it; I'd like to know more details on that.

A very sad day for cycling, when the no. 1 team in the world can't find a sponsor and has to disband.

What is the problem with this organization such that no sponsor will touch them regardless of their success?

I wonder how culpable the clowns at the UCI feel now?

The negative publicity generated by the Armstrong and Contador investigations must have been a weighty consideration with the potential sponsors.

from Shane Stokes on twitter. (@ssbike) expect it will appear on velonation at some point.
Stapleton said that either the Armstrong investigation or the Contador positive came up in every sponsorship talk, making things tougher...
Also said that the UCI's points system for ProTeams created a feeding frenzy that is unhealthy for the sport..,...
