it's still a stage race, so it's different than a classic obviously. Expect the one-week stage racers to make a good impression too.

Kelderman etc

Sure, but in a couple of years (maybe 2014) Keldermann will likely be a factor in AGR and LBL.

propably, yes, but also because of the profile I think. It's just too hard for most of the classics riders

I guess you remember who won the last stage that finished on the Redoute?! ;)

Not ideal for Boom but the relatively short distance favours him. If he can retain his lead today he'll win the overall. I'd say Chavanel though!

They had the Redoute in the Tour of Belgium close to the finish, but not on the finish, and yeah back then Gesink won dropping Vanendert on the final redoute climb. Kinda funny to think he was more explosive as 20 year old than as 27 year old (although leg break stuff etc)

Here's the finishing lap climbs for today again:

The three climbs on the finishing lap are:

Côte de la Redoute 2,1km @ 9,1% (5 on the map)
grafiek.php

Côte de Chambrelles 1,6km @ 9,3% (6 on the map)
grafiek.php

Côte de Niaster 1,9km @ 7,9% (7 on the map)
grafiek.php

By the way, people should realise, climbing-wise, the finale of this stage has much more climbing than the LBL finale. This stage has the same ammount of categorised climbs as LBL, but it's 100km shorter. It's not like they are using easier climbs either. And almost all of it is concentrated in the final 75km.

Off course LBL is much more difficult because of the distance and the field. But as I said in the beginning, I don't see Boom with even a small chance of doing well here, if there is any sort of racing. Even a mediocre shape Gilbert, who can't get further than top 10 in LBL, should be able to be in the lead after this stage. Off course, Chavanel is a very good rider, and he might be able to hang on and make sure Gilbert gets another of his favored 2nd places.

Maybe I'm overreacting, but compare the profile of this stage to the profile of LBL and you'll see what I'm getting at. Quite similar to this stages profile, except this stage is >100km shorter.......

It's a shame guys like Spilak and Moser lost a lot of time already. But both probably arn't in a very good shape anyway, since they both pack a good TT if they are in shape, especially in a punchy difficult parcours like yesterday.

My guess for todays stage is Gilbert or some random hilly guy who dropped away in the GC already. Gilbert or Chavanel for the GC. Kelderman and Tom Dumoulin to do well and get a decent spot in the GC, Boom might hang on to a decent spot in the GC, because the field isn't that great.

Does anybody know whether Langeveld can handle a parcours like this? He seems to be in great shape though....

Anyone else expecting a second and third place finish for Gilbert today and tomorrow and a second place finish in the GC?
