It makes sense, Vuelta starts in Italy, Movistar is worried Enricky would get the slightest taste of the Giro on his tastebuds.

It makes sense as riding Vuelta before the condition is treated appropriately could result in death. Get well soon Enric!

Blood clots when picked up early are easy to treat with blood thinner medication. Michael Matthews had blood clots in his lungs in Mid June and will be back racing later this month.

Are you by any chance suggesting Mas should ride Vuelta and they should hence hurry it up with blood thinners?

How can you make that assertion from my post! An athlete suffers from blood clots and the immediate thought/s are its a long term injury, willl they ever ride again etc etc etc. Athletes can make a full recovery from blood clots. Finally, blood clots usually dissolve after two weeks and its usually a three month recovery period.

@yaco

I assumed that is on why i asked. So if we both agree that it was a good idea to not ride the Vuelta then all is fine.

Any news on how the recovery is going?
No news articles on him since the team presentation and no Instagram updates, it seems. So unless we have some Movistar insiders here, which I don't think we have, I guess we just have to wait until he starts racing. He doesn't post on Strava either.

He is on the Movistar longlist for his home races in Majorca, so somewhat optimistic
I think only the TTT has been specifically mentioned in articles. But we'll see. Considering he said during the team presentation that the Vuelta is the only race he knows for sure he's doing, I'm not super excited for a strong start to the season unfortunately.

Apparently there's a new TV series about Movistar coming out tomorrow where he's rumoured to announce his Giro participation.

The next two weeks will tell if it's cross-dressing that's been holding him back in the Giro so far.

Does also raise the question about men and women's body shape in pro-cycling, if Mas can make such a mistake.

All good, never expected anything from this race. The stage over Giau will tell me if he has anything left, and if he has, you can already book him as the winner of stage 20 of the Vuelta.

That would pay handsomely, because no one with common sense would book him for something better than second place.
