Zoe Bäckstedt has done her job in the U23 ITT. I had expected Niedermaier to be within 30 seconds of the Swelsh rider, but she would always have needed a more hilly course to have a chance of winning. A fine Finnish brone medal for Ahtosalo, who proved to be stronger on the day than the likes of De Wilde and Kerbaol.

Is it anyone that can beat Alec in U23?
Söderqvist, Rafferty and Garcia fighting for the rest of the medals?
This course may suit Söderqvist since he is big.

Edit: It was wrong Christen in startlist.

Philipsen would have taken bronze had he been eligible for the U23s. This surely has to be the strongest anyone has ever been as a first-year junior?

Segaert basically doing what he should do in this field. Big talent versus average talents should always produce this kind of margin.

García Pierna just avoided to get overtaken by Segaert, but still lost out on bronze by a clear margin in the end. Were the wind speeds sort of the same as during the junior race?

Will try and watch tonight but it seems safe to suggest that AWP is blatantly a generational level talent and the closest we have seen to Remco type precociousness in the junior ranks. Same course and distance in a time that would have got him a medal in the under 23s less than a month after turning 17 is immense and he looks skinny and lean rather than a flat TT rouleur powerhouse.
