I was checking this out yesterday. Up along the ice fall you can find a couple of tourist moving down and one poor guy lagging behind.
Anyhow when I first saw the picture I thought the specks on the bottom was garbage and to my horror zoomed in and it was an entire TENT CITY. I am sure it is one giant cesspool of garbage down there.
I was there in November, there was no garbage and no evidence of the tent city that occurs early in season, so clearly a lot of work goes into keeping the place clean.
All along the trekking route are bins for rubbish and recycling. Probably The Everest Route is cleaner and most places in Western World Ive been to, so overall a tremendous effort.
