The show goes on. Started a bit too slow today, but keeping yellow is the important thing. Tommorow will be difficult though, Sky being very strong and all... But Kruiswijk being up there in the GC gives the team some space to work with. Managing to keep the lead tomorrow would be a big step forward in his developement. Fingers crossed.

With the very hard first climb tomorrow, most teammates will probably be dropped early, so we'll see how early Kruijswijk will have to hit the front.
If there's an attack on the first climb I'd say put Kruijswijk in that breakaway. That'd be a pain for Sky to chase down.

He is a beast. Some still don't think he is good enough of a climber but he keeps proving them wrong. Today was another display of great climbing ability. He was the fastest in the second part, Bernal was 2nd at 8s and Porte third at 36s!! It could be he misjudged his efforts in the beginning and started a little too slow. He looked amazingly strong in the last few hundred meters.

Tomorrow will be fun. I am too interested to see how is LottoNL Jumbo managing the situation. What will Kruijswijk do?

He is really a beast. Today was impressive because in my opinion the climb was more designed for pure climbers than Power climb riders. So he is proving that he can be good in all terrains. I would start putting money on him on GT's.

His best display of climbing was undoubtedly the stage he won in TDF last year. Of course, if he can be on that level day in and day out in a grand tour, I'd say he has what it takes. But given that today was a relatively short MTT, I don't think it proves anything further about him than what we already knew beforehand.

I don't think he'll top-6. I hope he can win a stage though.
Could well happen. He's more likely to win than most, but he's also more likely to crash and burn imo. At least it's worth trying. The team has Kruijswijk anyway to be the mandatory top 10 fixture, and then there's Groenewegen for sprints as well.

He won't target GC in the Tour so a top10 is probably out of the question. Kruijswijk will be the GC guy for Lotto. Roglic will target stages and eventually help Kruijswijk in the mountains if Steven will be in position to fight for the top spots. The goal for Roglic and the team is to challenge for a Tour victory in 2020. He is often being asked about GTs but in his answer he always says that he and the team are not ready yet.

10km isn't that short and at 8% average gradient it was a kind of stage where only strong climbers could excel. It's no coincidence Bernal and Porte were in a league of their own (with Primoz). You can clearly see the difference between a phenomenal time trialist who defends himself well on the climbs (Dennis, who btw targets GC in the Giro, I don't think he'll succeed but that's another matter) and Roglic. The difference was 1:22...that's a lot and I think Dennis did pretty well actually.

Tomorrow will be another important day of confirmation of his climbing abilities. Three 1st cat. and two 2nd cat. climbs with two of the best climbers in the World just seconds behind him in the GC. If he survives the day in yellow, well...I don't need any more proof for the year thank you.

Actually, I'd be very surprised if he doesn't keep yellow. The last climb is very far from the finish and Bernal is going feel today's effort most likely.

Roglic will feel it too.

But the descent and flat after should really help Roglic, as well as the fact that the final climb isn't that steep and the fact that Roglic should have Kruijswijk on the final climb

Taking the RaboFail out of LottoNL?
I think they have not been 'RaboFail' for a while now. For one, they have much smaller budget, for two, they have clearly specialised in a few departments. Sprints, time trials and small stage races. And that brings me to 3, they have done that really well with Groenewegen, almost anyone that can time trial and Roglic.

You can hardly blame them for not showing up at some races (classics especially), as they have simply made a hard choice not to.

Amazing how he repelled all those Bernal accelerations. And he was never panicking in the final downhill / flat part. Mentally tough as nails as well.
Why would he be panicking?

He's not flying 10m above ground at 110kph for 200m
It's more being the isolated GC leader in a group with the nr 2,3 and 5 there (and fuglsang but he was never a danger)

I think he did OK-ish today on the final climb :)

Rode like a boss today. Always in control, easily (I'm sure it was far from easy but he never looked like suffering) followed Bernal's attacks, great tactical decisions and on top of that wins the sprint for second. Another fantastic performance.
