Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

These guys have barely raced together, but I wouldnt be shocked if Dennis is on his best behavior despite not doing much for quite some time and will give everything to help Roglic win this one.

From what we can gather from Dennis's career he's a big people person, aka he'll ride hard & as good as anyone when he's feeling right & he's surrounded by people he thinks deserve it.

I mean there's not much going on in the Giro stages right now so I just sit there watching the Jumbo guys riding & interacting with each other on the climbs, flat & descents. Bases on what I see there seems like a really good vibe in the team right now. I mean Dennis looks happy. Something which just recently seemed like an unlikely improbability (especially considering how he landed in this Giro at the last minute with zero prep).

I didn't really understand the tactic of Jumbo today. Was it purely to put Roglic in a decent position? Could be achieved without trying to break the peloton. I think he wanted to attack but felt his legs weren't there today.
It was all about positioning before the cobbles where it was only place for two riders in width and if you were in bad position there you could ship time even if you had the legs to follow.

In the words of Tiesj Benoot: "Primoz is great at talking a lot while not saying anything"

I speak Rogla therefor I'll translate: Everyone has their own problems. Rog's own problems might have been specific to the weather as well (like not feeling well in some stages so far due to the conditions aka not just crash related stuff). He'll crush the last week with everything he's got but if someone is better than him, so be it.

That's the gist of it.

Cautious by Primoz. Still not 100%? Will we wait till Tre Cime before a proper GC action starts?

I think for there to be action tomorrow, the stage will have to be paced really hard from the start (especially over the successive climbs). Otherwise those shallower gradients at the end on Monte Bondone will dissuade attacks if the bunch hasn't been seriously reduced by then.

It just dawned on me… Rogla is deliberately doing minimum possible effort Giro victory to go full TDF in July:)

Yeah, until now, he was hardly ever in the Red Zone this Giro. Now a block of five days with four hard stages, going into the Red Zone. After the Giro, rest and regeneration, and he‘ll be at 100% at the Tour.

I think he‘ll be a late addition to the Tour, just as he was at Tirreno. He‘ll do the Tour without pressure, and will have a free role.

So this year, it‘s the year he goes for the Double of Giro and Tour. And could win it like 1998 Pantani.

He's quite stoic in a way. What happens happens. Takes the losses, takes the wins when he gets them. I like that.

He's also famous among riders for complaining about how hard it is before attacking.

So week three is here. Rogla in good position for overall, likely already defending more than anything else. It's surprising on how differently this Giro is raced by Rogla, compared to the 2019 edition. Shows just how huge his ability to adapt and evolve is. Each day from now on should bring some serious GC challenges. JV only getting better. Looking forward to what is ahead.
