Sick TT. Total surprise he can do this as well. Wonder how he will do in the long ITT. If he blasts there too then they are going to have a huge problem.

Although 3rd week recuperation is still an unknown. However, is that is good as well... then he could do a surprise top 5

Maybe ski jumping is great training for cycling? Huge power in relatively skinny legs is always advantage; great intramuscular coordination. I just thinked of new way of training maybe Not necesarilly ski jumping, but some way to enhance muscle coordination. Are cyclists training this or am I completely talking BS?

No idea. But LottoNL, albeit their many mistakes, do have good TT training since last year. Look at Kruijswijk in the long ITT last year, and the good al round TT's by their entire team in the TDF prologue.

Bianchi's and LottoNL are doing a good job in the TT department

Last years TdF prologue was quite remarkable improvement. Almost nothing before...than boom! Bit odd. Is it just me or Stef Clement declined in TTs in IAM?

Bianchi introduced a new TT bike after the fiasco 2 years ago with Belkin. Since then they have been steadily improving, the TDF prologue wasn't that big of a surprise. But since they selected all their best TT men it became extra apparent.

Clement is also getting old btw, so no big surprise

Pitty people are getting older, I liked him. At least van Emden made big step up in 2015, maybe before TdF though.

Not Wiggins. Rogla is gonna be much more entertaining in the mountains. But we should replace Landa with Contador in the title. Crushing the opposition in ITT and uphill

About todays performance. That was absolutely amazing. I still find it hard to believe. Before the stage I thought to myself "Ok, let's see. In T-A he was in very good form and he was around 30th position in a very similar 10km flat ITT. I thought he did great considering he's done very little TT training in his career so far. So if he can produce a similar performance, it'd be a very good sign". And then he comes out with this stunning performance. He was supposed to be a climber... But if you look back at my posts in this thread, I've said several times that he has shown quick progression and talent in time trials. I've mentioned he could become one of the best TT riders among GC contenders but I'd never imagined it would happen this fast and in reality I'd never imagined he'll reach the level he showed today. This is actually pretty scary. I don't know what to expect for the remainder of the Giro. I'm out of imagination, I just cannot think of what he is capable of.

Well if Kruijswijk is on his Giro 2015 level and Roglic can hold a good level for 3 weeks they'll be a great duo

Kruijswijk-Roglic 2016, make Rabofail great again.

He'll make Rabofail great again, his first gt is probably a bit too early for it, but he'll be a contender in 2017.

I don't know about his recovery, but last year he finished 4th in the Tour of Qinghai Lake (13 stages with no rest day at high altitude), so he has at least some experience when it comes to riding longer stage races and riding at high altitude.

Primoz Roglic was 200th of a second shy of a major upset in the opening time trial of the Giro d’Italia. The Slovenian Team LottoNL-Jumbo rider finished his time trial in 11-03 minutes and was provisionally the fastest for a long time. Only Tom Dumoulin (Giant - Alpecin) beat him by a hair.

“I didn’t even dream about winning this time trial,” Roglic said about his second place. “I’ve delivered some fine time trials, but they weren’t even close to what the specialists are capable of. I was very close today, though. I don’t think that I did anything wrong, but to be honest, I haven’t been thinking about it at all.

“It was totally crazy around me on the course. I wasn’t even able to hear my sports director talking to me through the ear piece.”

Painful

Sports Director Addy Engels was not expecting Roglic to put in such a ride. “We weren’t counting on a Primoz win at all,” he added. “He said that he was feeling stronger than ever, but we don’t know that much about Primoz at the moment, so nobody knew what that meant. We know now, and it makes it even more painful that he didn’t win. He delivered the time trial of his life, but doesn’t have the pink jersey.”

Jos van Emden, who was Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s main gun for the time trial, crashed. Engels added, “That was, without a doubt, the biggest setback of the day. Jos was doing well. He took a knock from this disappointment and has to recover from it.”

“I slipped away in the turn,” said van Emden. “I came to this race to deliver a strong opening time trial, so you take risks to accomplish that. It went south in that corner. I felt good about the first part of my time trial, so I’m very fed up about the way it turned out. My Giro was about today.”

Van Emden only suffered scrapes due to the crash.

Time win

Steven Kruijswijk was the last Team LottoNL-Jumbo rider off and finished 22nd. “He did a strong job,” Engels continued. “He won time on most of his competitors for the general classification. It’s looking good for Steven.”

Protecting Kruijswijk remains the most important task for the team in the second stage between Arnhem and Nijmegen. “It would be nice if we’re able to be part of the early breakaway because the stage goes through Holland, but the main task is to come through this day with Steven. Moreno Hofland can go for the sprint afterwards.”

If I remember correctly, he was first spotted on some amateur climb race (it might have been Vrsic or Mangrt), when he was in the top with MTB. Then Adria took interest in him and gave him a road bike and contract for next year.

Theres alot of room for another GC star at Jumbo, theres no way their gonna let him slave for Kruijswijk if he drops somewhere early and Rogla stil feels good. They got someone like Keizer for that.
