There is always the possibility (however unlikely it might seem) that Jonas has been tricking his competitors into thinking that he is weak.

There's a possibility that a jet engine will fall on my house tomorrow, but I'm not going to spend any time worrying about it.

I think that they would have to chase him down. There is always the possibility (however unlikely it might seem) that Jonas has been tricking his competitors into thinking that he is weak.
I was sort of thinking that until the TT. He lost too much time if it was deliberate.

With Vingegaard, I think the main issue for Rog is a tactical one, i.e. I can imagine there could be team orders regarding which one of the 3 leaders attacks when & where, like Rog was the one who initiated the Granon offensive because he was way down in GC, so here it could be Vingegaard (if Jumbo attempts the same grand manoeuvres).

And if Evenepoel doesn't bite the bait (I read in the press how his team wants to avoid a Pogačar TdF 2022 situation)... then Rog is left sitting on Evenepoel's wheel whilst Vingegaard sails into the distance & collects the Vuelta.

But I mean we could sit here all day & theorize scenarios. Anything can happen.

If UAE plays it smart, Remco will eventually take the bait.

If TT reflects Vinge’s current form and if he doesn’t improve, I don’t think Remco will even have to take the bait to bring him back. It will just happen on its own. That’s a big “if” though…

I think a lot of us in here are holding Jumbo as the favorites (I'm holding Roglic as the biggest favorite right now) and if UAE thinks the same I can see them not being interested in letting Vingegaard get a big gap.
If a Jumbo guy attacks, then UAE need to send one with him in my opinion.

It's yet to be seen whether Ayuso's back affects him after his crash on Wednesday (& impacts UAE's tactics as well).

I only hope Jumbo have a decent plan & execute it well.

Not losing time today is a must. Gaining a few seconds is optimal. Gaining more than that would be rather superb.

We'll see.

Exactly. That leaves Remco behind, and Roglic, Ayuso (or Almeida) in his wheel. Best option for UAE is if Ayuso goes with Vingegaard.

What the f was today's stage all about?

A whole bunch of marking & playing the role of perfect teammate.

I suppose once Evenepoel imploded there was nothing left to do other than see Vingegaard get his first stage win.

I have no idea how Jumbo will deal with this 'luxury problem' now, i.e. 1, 2 & 3 in GC.

Kuss will win the race. Too bad for Rogla that QS let Kuss get a buffer, but he has already won the Giro this year.

Yeah from a Rog fan perspective, it almost seems like an anti-climax.

And projecting forward to next year, this sort of scenario really, really cannot be repeated at the Tour where he needs to grab every single opportunity he gets.

Yes in hindsight if he wanted a win himself being in a team this strong is not the best. He might actually be the strongest rider, and if he was on a rival team he might win it.
But I think he will be very happy if Kuss wins it, after all he's been there for almost all of his own GT wins.

If JV just follows wheels and covers attacks for the remainder of the race (which will be boring) Kuss will win if he doesn't blow up one day, but there is a lot of racing still ahead. I could still see Vingo winning.

I guess I will start hating this TJV and cheering for anybody who can demolish them on road.

All suspension taken out of stage. Boring s***.

P.S. Happy for Kuss if this happens. He deserves his GT win.

I might come across as a bit sour here but Rog is 33. Gifting a GT win to a teammate is a very, very expensive gift.

I'm just putting this out here because there's a lot of talk about what Rog & Vinge might owe Kuss, but there's also what Jumbo owes Rog.

I don't know what I feel about this situation yet. I also think Rog could have pushed much harder today on the Tourmalet but he got tactically boxed in.

Roglic isn't gifting ***. He didn't have it today and 'only' losing 33 seconds on the road to Vingegaard is a win in itself.

If Roglic has it he doesn't fall behind splits and he doesn't not pick up the 4 seconds that Vingegaard did.

Well he's not going to fight his teammates is he? It's a ridiculous situation for Jumbo to find themselves in.

From my chair here I saw Rog play the perfect teammate, i.e. letting Mas & Ayuso do all the pulls & surfing wheels the whole time. And it was 'only' 33 seconds. Even after a sh*t load of playing games behind Vingegaard.

Yes, it looked like he did not have it but he was very strong in the end and came over the line with his mouth closed. So, idk what to think of it. Maybe he was just being a good teammate because it is already agreed he gets a free hand tomorrow or on Agliru.

I'd hope if the gap is big enough they're allowed to go nuts.

Otherwise, Rog needs to make sure he's the first to respond to move as to not get caged. But none of the other riders being better than Kuss is a huge bane to Rog's personal ambitions

Kuss and Rogla gained 30s in last km coming in looking fresh as daisy. Vinge on the other hand barely stood up. I think it was team decision how this will go trough.

He could have gone faster, he clearly marked Ayuso and closeall the acceleration seated and with ease. Kuss marked Mas, and he too could have gone faster.
