Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

Your take is fair.

Bora will not win a GT with Roglic. Loss.
Roglic will end his career without winning another GT. Loss.
JV lost a great athlete that could have won another GT with that team. Loss.

Sums it up i think.

Roglic is done.
Well that's a bit premature I think. There is always a risk in changing up a winning formula and it has been seen to go badly before. Time will tell.

Yeah, lol. You can't possibly know that.
It's possible that it happens. It's also possible they win the Tour and they look like geniuses in hindsight.

Roglic I think would rather lose at another team having getting beaten by the better man than get sandwiched by team leadership issues and not getting a fair shot at all even. In that sense, losing at Bora is likely preferable to losing at Jumbo. Also millions of extra euros don't hurt. As for extra GT wins, it seems Rog just really wants the Tour mostly, so that's always gonna be hard.

Bora's side is just weird. 14 mill for 2 years of Roglic seems outrageous, but at the same it's a sellers market and I'd rather have 1 Roglic than Higuita, Vlasov, and Martinez together, but then I have no idea what kind of money the latter 3 are on. There are rumors that Pogacar is on like 6M/year and he looks like a bargain at that price now.

I fixed it for you. Clairvoyant. And it's not only wins that count in life, btw. Thankfully 😅

And about Niermann...maybe you didn't notice, but i like to watch videos with sports directors in the car and the man cried every time Jonas won (stage wins). He never cried for Roglič, Wout, Kuss or anyone else. Let that sink in. He clearly liked him a lot more then others and that's fine if you are not a sports director with total creative control over racing strategy and who the team pushes to win. Looks like team boss and many others also didn't like that.
Maybe Jonas reminds Grisha of the tour win his team once lost back in his youth when a guy looking very similar to him was sent home.

Just kidding. (Or am I?)

All those Slovenians problems are because of Teddy. If only he had waited one year longer and hadn't dropped a watt bomb during the PDBF TT:
1) Skeletor, as we know him, wouldn't have been created.
2) Rogla would've won 2020 Tour.
3) Teddy would've won 2021 and 2022 Tours.
4) Rogla would've won 2023 Tour (Teddy's collapse in week 3) being a sole leader of the team now.
5) Teddy would've good prospects of adding more Tour wins and producing the best seasons in modern history.

Thats some interesting contrafactual history right there.

Confining our thinking on planet earth Roglic was once served the TDF on a platter but unfortunately couldn't bite.

I wish he won it, for several reasons, but here we are. Maybe even the victim cossing in this thread would be less prominent if he did.

Luckily Rogla himself just steams on as he should. Leaving Jumbo was exactly right.

Rogla would still drop out of 2021 Tour and TJV would still see that Vinge can produce unbelievable numbers in training. What makes you think that 2020 TDF would change anything?

Rogla was 3 times Vuelta winner but that did not stop TJV from preferring Vinge in 2023 Vuelta.

In 2020 JV saw that a new mutant appeared and beat their leader so they started upgrading Vingo quickly to answer with their own TdF monster and win the race finally.
U shouldn't treat that post completely seriously though :p

Afaik, the length of the contract hasn't been disclosed? Only that it's "more than 1 year".

Roglič would probably have won the Tour 4 years in a row, since Pogačar wouldn't have reached the same level, while Vingegaard would have retired after this season because Uno-X didn't want to extend his contract. Then he'd go on to win a future season of Love Island.

Rogla's one big weakness is Monument length races. Once the race is in the 250K area he isn't at his best!

Just like Wout van Aert to a certain extent. Today was a mirror image of so many previous monuments from Jumbo riders. It's just not their forte.

He's won a lot this season & for all intents & purposes it's been one of his best seasons yet (& he carries zero niggles or injuries into the winter & can focus on his new team).

I'm relieved it's all over tbh without drama, i.e. farewell Jumbo, it was a great time, but now for new adventures (& as a fan I can relax a little for six months without cycling stress, which is always welcome).

“It’s a me, Primoz”

I feel like a nerd for getting that reference. But hey, I had a Nintendo when I was a kid, everyone did.

And Rog was cooked so hard today. It's always a similar story, i.e. post Vuelta downward form trajectory whilst getting tactically boxed in because he's seen as a favorite (& threat). So others don't work with him in the final 30km's. It's like 2021 all over again (although back then Vingegaard did quite a lot of work in the bunch after Ganda).

I do think the Civiglio route suits him better, but still a podium isn't bad.
